    HIGHLIGHTS
    • It appeared that for the Pakistani army, the Champions Trophy final was indeed "war minus the shooting", to borrow a phrase from cricket writer Mike Marqusee
    • Throughout the match on Sunday, the army posted aggressive, war-like tweets and said the cricket team could take on any "threats"

NEW DELHI: Pakistan's army took to Twitter aggressively on Sunday to politicise the Pakistani cricket team's win against India in the Champions Trophy final.

It also announced 'umrah' for the cricket team, underlining the significant role that both religion and the army play in the country's body politic. (Umrah is a non-mandatory pilgrimage to Mecca.)

Throughout the duration of the match on Sunday, It appeared that for the Pakistani army, the Champions Trophy final was indeed "war minus the shooting", to borrow a phrase from cricket writer Mike Marqusee.

On Sunday, not only did the Pakistani army's media unit flood its Twitter account with pictures of soldiers and various army personages watching the match, it then quoted its army chief Qamar Bajwa describing the team as one that is "against every threat".

To be clear, Bajwa was talking about his country's cricket team and not its notorious Border Action Team which is responsible for cross-border attacks, mutilation of Indian soldiers' bodies and raids across the Line of Control.

    There's more.

The army's media unit then painted the Pakistani cricket team as one that along with the "valiant soldiers of Pakistan" and the "nation" would "defend Pak against all threats our enemies hatch."

Again, this was a cricket win that was being described.

Then, the media unit - called Inter-Services Public Relations - posted a photo, purportedly of people watching the match in Balochistan, with a caption that said "lay off".

The photo was addressed to "to whom it may concern" and the reference was clearly to India, which Pakistan alleges foments separatism in Balochistan, like Islamabad does in Kashmir.

And speaking of Kashmir, the Pakistani's army's media unit finished its tweet frenzy with a video it claimed was from Srinagar and which claimed to show people celebrating Pakistan's victory.

India, always accusing Pakistan of the things they consistently do themselves. Shameless hypocrites.

A degrading article to sow seeds of discord among Paks and Their Forces.

What PA did and shall do is engage the enemies of Pak through all means... including media. Balochs are as loyal to Pak as Mr. Bajwa. If anyone needs to know where Hearts of Kashmiris lie.... just see how they celeberated Their Teams Victory.

I would have liked more Patriotic Campaign from PA... they chose restraint and understatement... must have its reasons no doubt.

@Horus @WebMaster @The Eagle @waz Gents, the title of this thread needs to be changed to How indian media portrays PA's Patriotism. Thanks for doing this... thread can stay.

India vs Pakistan Final: Pak Army Mocks India After Champions Trophy Win

Photo Credit: Asif Ghafoor / Twitter

Islamabad: Pakistan Army has mocked India after the country's resounding victory in the Champions Trophy cricket final, sharing photos of celebrations in restive Balochistan with a caption: "To whom it may concern'. Lay off".

After posting photos of Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa with victory (V) sign and soldiers dancing over Pakistani triumph over India at the Oval, military spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor shared pictures from Balochistan where people were celebrating the victory. "And this is Our Balochistan. 'To whom it may concern'. Lay off," he wrote along with photos.

The pictures were apparently in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day speech last year in which he had raised the issue Pakistan's atrocities on people of Baluchistan and Azad Kashmir.

Ghafoor also posted a video showing people in Srinagar purportedly celebrating Pakistan's victory over India. "And this is.........Srinagar!!" he wrote.

Watching a match between Pak and Ind with the Jawans in the Canteen is an amazing feeling, and if the lvl is so high like this one, projectors are arranged in the unit and everyone comes to watch.
Only other thing that can match the awesomeness of this is when you are on a post with Jawans and have a dish, or radio.
12.7 and MG loaded with tracers, and when the match is won (Hopefuly) we let the heavens and hell know that we are alive and fired up!

Alas, gone are those days. Only a few COs would allow this to happen now. I suppose it is unprofessional but sometimes it is needed.
