(CNN Business)Hong Kong police declared the Apple Daily newspaper office a crime scene Thursday, after 500 officers descended on the premises to arrest executives and top editors and seize journalistic materials under the city's national security law.
Apple Daily said Thursday that the company's CEO Cheung Kim Hung, COO Chow Tat Kuen and chief editor Ryan Law, along with the deputy chief editor and online editor were all arrested and accused of colluding with foreign forces to endanger national security — a provision of the sweeping legislation introduced last year that banned sedition, secession and subversion against Beijing.
"This case involves a conspiracy," Hong Kong Security Secretary John Lee told reporters at a press conference Thursday, adding that the police raid was targeted at those who use journalism as a "tool to endanger national security."

Senior superintendent Steve Li, of the police's national security department, said 18 million Hong Kong dollars ($2.3 million) in assets related to the newspaper had been frozen. The assets are owned by three companies: Apple Daily, Apple Publishing & A.D. Internet Limited.

The publication live-streamed the early morning raid on its Facebook page, showing police asking staff to show proof of identity, and blocking them from returning to their desks.
The Hong Kong government confirmed Thursday that it had arrested five "directors of a company" on suspicion of violating the national security law and that officers had obtained a search warrant which gave officers the power to seize journalist material.

After the initial raid, Li said Apple Daily's headquarters was now a crime scene, and that officers had confiscated electronic devices, such as mobile phones, computers and laptops. In images published online by Apple Daily, police officers could be seen examining computers at the office.

with each of these steps, Chinese leaders further delegitimize their hold on power.
this is nothing short of getting rid of freedom of the press under the false pretense of protecting national security so that only the hypocritical narratives pushed forth by the CCP reach the populace.
what the CCP fails to realize however, is that they undermine their own claim to power by this and their many other very shady "business" practices, domestically and abroad..

They don't care, it's all about scaring and intimidating the people into subjugation, and to a large extent they have succeeded.

Mark Simon Advertising director at Apple Daily. Former CIA, chairman of the Hong Kong branch of the Republican Party.

An NBC investigation reports that Apple Daily made up fake news about Joe Biden to try to interfere with the US election.

The boss of Apple Daily claims that his assistants do all the work and he has nothing to do with it.

They are spies, they should not be arrested, they should be shot.

My question is, are you also employed by the CIA?

This is a dialectical question. The BOSS of their campaign is the Republicans. The money was provided by Taiwan and the operation was carried out by Apple Daily's News Corporation, Falun Gong and the Republican right-wing media. You can say it's Americans' problem, or you can say China is meddling in the US election.

Like Falun Gong and Taiwan. They are an anti-China group and at the same time, they have successfully misled the US. The US has gone down the wrong path and there is no turning back. The US has begun to use its intelligence services and military to engage in political warfare. The US used the CIA's foreign propaganda media to influence the election.

The Americans destroyed the American system under the influence of the Chinese, but their original intention was to oppose China. The question then becomes, is it the Chinese or the Americans who destroyed the US?

Yupp we saw your proofs in Tiananmen square against innocent students ah I guess they were CIA agents as well. Also, even a Chinese spy will get better justice in America than a common Chinese can ever get in China.

America is becoming a profitable market for mis information.
Even foreigners are jumping in.

Chinese businessman with links to Steve Bannon is driving force for a sprawling disinformation network, researchers say

The Police did acquired a warrant in their raid as required under the law.

These are not China's law but based on common laws as left behind by the British Colonialist.
Hong Kong is still under One Country Two Systems.

The Judge is fully satisfied that a new search warrant is justified as many journalists during the previous raid claimed that the original warrant did not state that the police has the right to detain and examined their notebooks and mobile phones.

Those arrested and detained are based on the evidences gathered in the earlier raid.

They have found very incriminating evidences and records of instructions from foreign power and funding when scouring through the documents and emails.

FYI Australian Police did that to ABC many years ago and why did the CNN and others demonized Australian Government?

Did the spin doctors at CNN said Apple Daily is now considered as a crime scene as in a murder?

:coffee: :omghaha: :omghaha: :omghaha:

I believe the Hong Kong Police has moles inside the Apple Daily organisation as they know exactly who are the offenders and which computer to seize.
Apple Daily loses millions of dollars annually but can continue to operate for decades. Where does its funds come from?

Mark Simon (rumored to be a CIA operative) a confidante of Benny Lai has fled to Taiwan.
Mark confessed that he commissioned a Professor at a Vietnamese University to write an discriminating article about Biden (To help Trump re-election bid) for USD40,000 to try to save his boss Benny from breaching Hong Kong National Security Act.
When investigated the Professor admitted that as well.
It seems he had wrote the article based solely on information supplied by Mark Simon. They were false information.

In a crime scene, everyone has to leave but the workers are all still working there but with worrisome thoughts of whether or not, this tabloid news publishing house will pay their salaries this month.

If you like tanks, you should join the US Army. So when you ask for a pension, your intestines can lubricate the track
