Harley-Davidson has taken a head-start on 2018 by unveiling four of their Softail motorcycles that will be on sale in India in a few weeks. On the list is the Softail, the Heritage Classic, the Fat Bob and the Street Bob. All four motorcycles have somehow taken a step into the times while still maintaining their rugged old-school cruiser auras. All four bikes have been made stiffer, with lighter steel frames and a swingarm and have been given a rework on the front and rear suspensions. They will all benefit from Harley’s new 107 Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine 92 horsepower engine 45-degree V-Twin cylinder engines. The paradigm shift to the future comes from what is being touted as the largest single product development in Harley Davidson history. The Fatboy, the Heritage classic, the Fat Bob will all receive dual bending valve front suspensions and easily adjustable rear mono-shocks, that will faster and lighter than its predecessors.
Peter MacKenzie, Managing Director, Harley-Davidson India and China said, “Our new offerings strongly demonstrate Harley-Davidson’s focus on reinventing products for motorcycle enthusiasts and aspiring riders. The 2018 Softail® custom motorcycles have been inspired by Harley-Davidson’s history, authenticity and styling DNA through a modern lens. The response to the first look has been very positive and we are confident that the motorcycles will further enhance the sport of leisure motorcycling in India.”
    2018 Fat Boy[IMG]
The new 2018 Fat Boy gets a fully-redesigned front end the Harley is calling the “steam-roller” stance. It gets a 160 mm front tyre, which is the widest ever on a Harley Davidson Motorcycle. The Fat boy has gone through a diet as well, losing an impressive 16 kilos from the previous model, The Fat Boy also ditches the traditional alloy wheels for solid Lakester wheels, that in our opinion looking exception on the new FatBoy. In terms of safety, the Fat Boy will also get ABS as standard. Harley-India has priced the motorcycle at 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom India) and while bookings have officially begun it may still be a few weeks before any of these hit the showrooms.
    2018 Heritage Classic[IMG]

The Heritage has also been put on a diet courtesy the new frame and lighter suspension and is now 17 kgs lighter than the outgoing Heritage Classic. Cruise Control and ABs will be available as standard across models. The Heritage Classic has been priced at 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be the flagship model in the Softail range.

It will get a 150 mm tyre in the front and a 180 mm tyre at the rear, which Harley say is the largest aggressively treaded tyre in the company's portfolio, Although as to what that means might be up for consideration. The Fat Bob has been priced at 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be open for bookings like all its other siblings.

The smallest Softail sibling, the Street Bob will get the least in terms of upgrades but gets a new 13.2-litre fuel tank, black wheels and a chopped fender to reinforce its rugged, bad-boy appeal. It also gets a low-profile digital information screen and will be 7kgs lighter than it’s predecessor. It is also the cheapest in the Softail range and will retail for 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom India)
