HANDS ON: The New B&T SPR300 PRO

After a lengthy Form 3 delay, the new B&T SPR300 PRO finally arrived this week. This new version of the B&T SPR300 may look like the old but represents a total overhaul of the original design. Let’s take a look at what’s new on the Brugger & Thomet SPR300 PRO.

The SPR300 PRO comes with everything pictured here (minus of course the optic and ammo) and is easily assembled in under a minute without the use of tools. B&T was kind enough to provide a breakdown of the SPR 300 PRO’s mission in the following statement.
The SPR300 offers an air gun quiet sound signature with predictable precision accuracy. This is important because a law enforcement marksman will be engaging targets from closer ranges and may be called upon to take a low probability hostage shot. This is less important for a long-range military sniper where a body shot at extended ranges is more of the goal.

The SPR300 PRO comes in two versions. An integrally suppressed version and the above-pictured version that comes with the B&T suppressor. This features a 9.92″ 1:8 twist threaded barrel with the option to install other silencers using the 5/8×24 thread pitch at the end of the barrel.

Two sets of threads index the suppressor that comes with a matching serial number corresponding to the rifle. Additionally, the rear threads feature an O-ring to seal off the gas at the rear of the reflex-style silencer.

The cold hammer-forged barrel is designed for sub-MOA accuracy and is tailored for subsonic ammunition. Both the silencer and barrel are rated for supersonic ammunition as well.

Previously the SPR300 was chambered in .300 Whisper while the new SPR 300 PRO comes in the now industry-standard .300 Blackout. In addition, the rifle now takes STANAG AR-15 style magazines and comes with two 10-round Lancer translucent magazines.

Upfront is a new accessory rail with the following specs provided by B&T.
Along the top of the rifle is a 15-inch long NATO Accessory Rail (NAR). This rail enables the user to mount any type of Night Vision Device (NVD) or Thermal Optic clip-on in front of their day optic. At the 3 and 9 o’clock positions of the handguard are MLOK compatible slots to mount rail sections or other accessories. Utilizing MLOK slots serves to both lighten the platform and easily and quickly allow the user to mount virtually any accessory on the market. The receiver is an original B&T design, and it is of course all produced in Switzerland.

At the rear of the SPR300 PRO is a very slick folding stock assembly. A pin on the bottom right of the receiver is pressed to fold the stock to the side where it clicks securely into place for transport.

Last but not least is a new bipod at the front of the SPR300 PRO that comes with the following specs.
The lightweight polymer bipod is produced by B&T (BT-22297) and quickly attaches to the NAR at the 6 o’clock position by way of our QD locking system. It weighs only 8 ounces and processes a field of rotation of 30 degrees. It also has a wide range of height adjustment from 6.8-inches to 8.5-inches. The bipod will support approximately 22 pounds of weight.
