Gen Bajwa contacts UAE, Saudi Arabia over Pakistan-IMF deal

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has contacted the Saudi Arabian and UAE authorities and discussed Pakistan's deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Geo News reported Friday.
"Good news is expected for Pakistan," the channel reported.
The lender has linked the disbursement of the tranche to the provision of $4 billion financing gap, which Pakistan seeks to meet from friendly countries.
Late last month, COAS Bajwa telephoned US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman and appealed to the United States to help Islamabad secure an early dispersal of $1.2 billion in funds under the IMF programme.
The army chief had approached the Biden administration, seeking its influence over the IMF amid the worsening economic crisis and depreciating rupee, which had plummeted to record levels.
Since then, however, the local currency has gained ground after July import data and an announcement by the lender that Pakistan has fulfilled all the prior actions needed to revive the $6 billion loan programme stalled since months.
Pakistan and the IMF had reached the staff-level agreement for the combined seventh and eighth reviews but final approval from the Fund’s Executive Board is expected later this month.

That is because neutrally Gen BJ is the finance minister also.

NEUTRAL !!

I hope the Arabs tell our pathetic lot to go take a hike. Not sure why they even bother throwing money into an empty pit with no returns.

They must see something that nobody else does.

Again must of die hard PTI fanboys are not making any sense. Fact is our politicians are like petulant child. UAE is going to invest $2b and they need guarantee from establishment that their investment will be safe and not be hijacked by next govt in line. We all know PTI already have started campaign against it just like they did against CPEC.

Is PTI turning out to be anti-Pakistan party lead by maniac who only think about himself? Probably. Its a shame not many are seeing it. PTI would love nothing more then Pakistan turning Sri Lanka right now.

So as long as our so called politicians behave like moron, world will continue to look up to establishment and their role in Pakistan.

Just like Saudis were going to make refineries here.

Selling your SOE's for dirt cheap share prices without any sort of due diligence or open bidding is not exactly what you would call an 'investement'.

Thank you for bring the refineries up were still waiting on that, along with other promised projects. Lol.
So many gullible Pakistani's.

So are you ok with selling a 20 PKR share for 10 with a further discount, and then buying it back after two years for 30 PKR?

No fools or working on foreign agenda, they're just self-serving bastards just like the rest of Govt Servants.
They like everyone else in power don't care about the nation, as long as they get to golf around their Garssions and plunder state land, the rest of the nation can go to hell. This is the Top Brass btw. it has lways been corrupt to the core, Read about how self-proclaimed Field Marshall Ayub Khan treated Poor miss Fatimah Jinnah and how Yahya Khan used to spend nights with whores during 71 wars.
Our Top Brass has always been inept baring few exceptions,

PTI ruined Pak economy with record high CAD last year.

Did the volume of exports increase? Did the breakdown of items significantly change? Were we importing more finished product than before? Were we importing services more than before?

Taking into account an anomaly and making a broad statement of 'record high CAD' does not do justice to anyone's intellect.

Petrol subsidy is main reason along with low taxes on car early on etc just to show high growth rate that backfired.
