Gwadar: The trust reposed by the government in Pakistan Navy’ capabilities to be the guardians of our seas, rose to the occasion to honour its commitment, and has built a fool-proof security for the Gwadar Port, which is going to assume extraordinary significance in the development of the region.

It was heart-warming to know that Balochis in large number are joining the Navy, and by now some 1000 of them have already become part of a force which is committed to guard the country’s sea lanes. In fact one of the officers has already acquired the rank of Commodore, equivalent to Brigadier, which is one-star General.

A visit to the place revealed that Navy has been entrusted with the task of protecting the Gwadar port in Balochistan, while Army has taken over the stupendous task of protecting the entire area.

A media till, flown to the place with senior officers from Karachi and Islamabad, was updated with the way Pakistani armed forces have responded to the call of their duty. Some of the facts were just incredible.

In recent times, especially after the induction into authority of the present government, special emphasis has been paid for building a most modern system for the defence of the motherland. Navy’s role, which had somehow, remained neglected, has received the necessary fillip with Chinese submarines, its technology transfer, and weaponry to be true custodians of our sea-lanes in peace time, and in emergencies.

Gwadar is fast coming up, and in fact a Chinese vessel, had already sailed to its destinations with a massive cargo, brought to the port area in convoys of trucks, and perhaps another such ship is due in week’s to ten days’ time, officials reported.

The visit to the place was extremely informative and knowledgeable as print and electronic media representatives saw for themselves the welfare role which the Pakistan Navy has been playing for years, first with medicines, and rations for the backward areas of south-western province, and now they aim to improve the lot of the poor people by building clinics and schools along the lengthy coastline of Gwadar, Pasni, Jiwani, and Ormara etc, washed by the Arabian sea.

Gwadar is a natural sea port, with depth upto 15 to 18 metres, which makes it a real asset for Pakistan developing it with the help of the Chinese for the game-changer China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is supposed to be. Cranes have come up there, and expansion is in full swing.

It has three berths already operational but the number will swell to dizzy heights, said the officers, escorting the mediamen from Karachi and parts of Balochistan.
It was inspiring to see young children, reciting prayers, and engaged in exercises, plays, music shows, and lot of other items, to be staged on the Independence Day of March 23. The co-education high school, whose lady vice-principal, who moved from Karachi to settled in Gwadar and has been there for the last 15 years, feels happy to serve the poor and the ordinary.

Officials felt proud that Navy recruiting teams, engaged in door to door visits for recruitment into Naval force, was getting response, which was not only warm but over-enthusiastic.
The school, which has already passed out its first batch of matriculation students, is getting ready for new examinations, due soon. The Navy wants to upgrade it to State of the Art institution, and straight upto college level.

The lady vice-principal , Sarwat, said the school has been operational for seven years, and fishermen children, who in the absence of educational facilities, may have tied themselves down to their age-old ancestorai profession of fishing, were taking to studies seriously, and a wind of change has begun to blow in now, promising a brighter future for the poor and the neglected ones of Balochistan, where influence of the misguided people, has been rapidly declining. That is a good omen.

The journalists were also explained various aspects that, resource permitting, Pakistan Navy has elaborate plans to weave a web of welfare projects like hospitals, schools, colleges, and vocational training centres for ladies of the area. One such vocational centre, where ladies were busy cutting clothes, and sewing it for sale, was seen by the journalists at Gwadar.
Officials explained that Pasni, Jiwani, and several other territories along the log coastal line, had surveillance, and modern gadgetry system, working under the command of a senior officer which in simple words, means a true, wholesome network of security and protection for a force vigilant at the coastlines

Many of those fake Baloch accounts on twitter don't even know that most of the FC personnel in Balochistan are locals.

Excellent news and local people defend their home, no one can do anything. InshaAllah Pakistan's future is bright and the enemies are doomed.

This isn't surprising and has been going on at a large-scale since 2007. Recruitment surged when all of the major tribes defected to Pakistan.

In the video it says that soldiers voluntarily gave up a day's pay to build a school and etc... that warmed my heart.

Do we know composition of FC in Balochistan? Balochistan has large numbers of pakhtuns. But in last decade army have made sure to recruit "ethnic" Baloch and not just someone from Balochistan. Makran region is pretty much majority Baloch with minority Lasi. For Navy they are likely recruiting Baloch from Makran region.

But I'm not sure about FC in Balochistan, some people say they are overwhelmingly pakhtuns and not Baloch.
