The Egyptian Air Force signed an agreement to purchase drones, believed to be the Wing Loong II attack-reconnaissance UAVs, from China’s National Aero-Technology Import and Export Corporation (CATIC).

The agreement was signed Commander of Egyptian air forces, Mohamed Abbas and CATIC officials on the sidelines of the EDEX 2018 exhibition held in Cairo earlier this week, an official announcement said.

CATIC had displayed a model of the Wing Loong II drone at the EDEX exhibiton, though the company made no announcement of a sale to Egypt. The Wing Loong drone is said to compete in features with the Predator medium altitude long range (MALE) drone made by the US firm, General Atomics.

Last month, the Egyptian Ministry of Defence had shown a video of the Wing Loong drone, taking off with missiles on its hard-points and knocking off a ground target. The publicity video was telecast on Egyptian media on the occasion of the 45th Air Force Day.

The publication of the video indicates that Egypt may already be in possession of the drones and may have signed up to buy more or them. Besides the Wing Loong, CATIC also manufactures the Harrier, a reconnaissance drone capable of long endurance.

Chinese firms generally do not announce sales of military wares to foreign countries. Information published in international media is shared in state-owned Chinese publications with local defence experts commenting on the possible sale.

They don’t have water issues with Soudan or Ethiopia..its the other way around..for the East and West borders, they have lost control of that long time ago and they ok with it...

Fighting ISIS on the eastern borders.
Controlling 1000 KMs long boarders with neighboring Libya in the west that has a civil war.
Controlling southern borders with Fragile Sudan.
As alternative to avoid depletion Of our F-16s,Apaches and KA-52 fleets for eleminating those criminals from our boarders in this volatile Middle East.

The sad thing , Egyptian armed forces are eliminating civilians that are réfractaire to any kind of rules, like the tribe of the Sinai..Israel is persecuting them, so does Egypt..
Egypt lost control of it western borders and left them in the care of Haftar, the area warlord..
Sudan is not a threat to Egypt , it is the other way around, beside it is in the same coalition than Egypt, ie an ally, how can an ally be in the same time a threat?. The Arab mind , sometimes is weird.
250 + F16 and Egypt is fearing their depletion..how about starting flying them, like the power, Egypt claims to be?

There is a huge difference between the Egyptian army and the Algerian one....who was the main cause of terrorism is Algeria is killing civilians... don’t let that experience blind your eye.

As for the western borders...there a huge support from Egypt to the Libyan Army to watch the mutual borders from their side along with our army from our side.

As for Sudan there is a mutual forces watch the borders .... but still there are some gaps that has to be tackled through the new UAV.

As for F-16 just 2 days ago there is a press release from EAF with some videos from our F-16s hitting targets in Sinai and western borders.

But I know you will never admit it as a hater.

True , there is a big difference between the Algerian army and the Egyptian Army of thugs..Algerian army didn't kill innocent civilians as Egypt Army did..Algerian army didn't even patrol cities like yours does, that police work...and I need to stop there...
