Absolutely fine with me. AFAIK, the officer is in question was captured before formal declaration of war and kept as a PoW for almost 2 years. No reports have ever surfaced of Manekshaw's legs shaking and asking for his return. But it seems this Mehdi chap did not use Air Force as the Chief during the Kargil Conflict to tone down the problems. Whether his time as PoW in India played a role in his decision is anyone's guess.

Well, expecting some comprehension and posting of correct news by India would be too much to ask at a time. If you don't know about details and can't come up with better idea to divert from real topic, you can at-least choose not to speak and instead of making claims; better to ask question to gain some knowledge. We don't know how much pressure was on him to lie and say that yes he shot down the F16 before going down. Do you not think their unprofessional forces and schizophrenic media wanted a chance to jump around and make more noise if he had uttered any unprofessional statements ?
In my books he remains a professional and a gentleman.
Maybe it was time for his routine promotion.
People in armed forces do get promotions as they become senior, right ?

The Indian Air Force has promoted war hero Wing Commander Abhinandan to the rank of Group Captain. Abhinandan is credited to have been the only Mig-21 pilot ever to have shot down an F-16.


Abhinandan was awarded the Shaurya Chakra for his role in the 2019 February air strike on terrorist camps in Pakistan.
He shot down the F-16 over Azad Kashmir, but was taken captive by the Pakistan Army after his plane was shot down by enemy forces.

is this news reporting for real!! When you want to be biased and providing a propaganda value, then i suppose sky is the limit for the lies and exaggeration.

He actually was not part of the Air Strikes inside Pakistan. How he is awarded a Chakra for something he didn't even involved in!!

He never thwarted any airstrikes. Airstrikes by PAF went ahead, they targeted the empty spaces outside the lock targets and returned back. Abhi only try to stop the returning PAF jets as a result he was shoot down. PAF thwarted his efforts to chase PAF Jets.
