Do you live in Bengal? That's one of the few states affected by the demonetization because the state govt is not cooperating with Modi. The actual move was RBI's brainchild, not Modi's.

Otoh, other opposition controlled states like Karnataka are doing well because the state govts are working with the centre.

Let's also not forget that a pretty large chunk of the Bengal economy was running on fake currency and other illicit businesses. So the huge loss of jobs in the region was expected, obviously planned.

As it happens, I live in a state which is second only to Kerala in shifting over to digitised transactions. Not in Bengal, which is in such deep corruption that emerging seems impossible. The huge loss of jobs had nothing to do with the fake currency or other illicit businesses that you have mentioned, btw. These facile assumptions are not helpful in any way.

Then other states are mostly doing fine. The problem here is issues that people faced in the past are coming to light through the media post demonetization. For example, the quality of life in India overall was worse the last two years than it is today even with the demonetization blues because of the drought. The only difference is hungry people standing in lines wasn't something the media bothered about before demonetization, now they are.

Privileged part of India suddenly woke up to the plight of the poor overnight.

After having ignored its existence for decades, 'Privileged India' is now awake to poverty p0rn.

50000 rupees per week for an embassy? That's around 680€ or less than 100€ per day. That must be a joke, right?

You need to ask one question......... why an foreign Embassy operating fully or very much dependant on cash only??
They should have plenty of money in banks and almost all transactions paid with credit card or checks. Unless there's huge underground business going on.

You are probably right on the last point, the privileged finding out about the poor overnight. None of them had any idea about this. Those of us engaged with skill development as an alternative to management training and engineering training were already aware of this; sensitive India, as distinct from privileged India, has been aware of this situation for some time now.

I can't agree with your statement about hungry people standing in lines. Hungry people looked for MNREGA funds, they never stood in line at banks. It is not clear why you think they did. There were never such ridiculous queues before this recent debacle.

As for the drought being responsible for the quality of life deteriorating in India, that is very true. It is unfortunate that this is remembered only in order to contradict those who think that the quality of life deteriorated in the last few weeks. This problem existed, as you point out, for the last two years; it is sad that instead of concentrating on the plight of the poor, and those suffering due to drought, our Don Quixote and Sancho Panza combination decided that corruption and black money was a greater demon.

If this recent idiocy has brought the media to talk about the misery of the poor, and especially the rural poor, that is not a bad thing, surely. Better than talking fatuous nonsense about Shining India, and better than taking pride in GDP growth, without considering what real impact that had on the bulk of India's population.

I don't know in what sense 'other states' are doing fine. I don't know why Bengal came up in your comment in the first place. But no doubt there was some agenda behind it. No doubt, in the fullness of time, we will be informed what it is.

Anyone who refuse to even discuss or listen to other aspects of this action indeed are only acting emotional so what is wrong calling their behaviour as emotional

Well it has not blocked all..u r right here..
But its in the way..black money is the root to illegal holdings- demonetization and digitilization will curb it to a great extent..
But laughing at others who simply believe in this theory and are willing to bear the troubles arised bcz of it doesnt make them wrong- doesnt matter u call them emotional or blind followers :) ..
If u have points that will describe how this is not possible ,please put forward UR other aspects .. :)

Modi's BJP friends & Industrialist cronies are having a ball with black money, while Modi does not take any action against them:

Rs 100 crore was laundered just before Janardhana Reddy's daughter's wedding, claims driver's suicide note jantakareporter.com/india/rs-100-c…
Mate that shah from gujrat ,3 bjp members have already being investigated..its too early to say anything..
First people were complaining bjp is not taking action on black money ,when they did ,they are not taking actions against their members..well its the job of banks and investigating agencies and after comes the government.
Well have some patience ,just wait and watch thats all i can say for now :)

Please go through the entire thread to know about other aspects.
Well i have been already but didnt find a good point.. but if u r not willling to discuss..then its ok after all it was ur complain that others here dont want to discuss other aspects..
