Former prime minister Imran Khan’s return to power — or not — will not have much impact on the future of US-Pakistan relations as such decisions in Islamabad are taken by the army chief, not the prime minister.
Well, that was the primary reason tensions grew between the army and IK. If again he becomes a PM the army will face more tough times under him because unlike Nawaz sharif as a PM he doesn't take orders from the army chief. And as an executive of the country constitutionally he has all the power.
The second-time army will be more cautious because they will know how it ended up last time when they tried to overthrow him. That's why we are at the defining moment in our history. Either army will back down this time or will cause a civil war type mess.

They seem to have no intention of backing down.

If IK becomes PM...he needs to remove the generals to the barracks. Use the people against the stupid generals.

Yeah thoughts are mutual.
We are heading towards a disaster.

Yeah, this time something serious needs to be done, or else all of that will be in vain.
A buffer should be created that prevents army meddling in politics and misuse of power.
The first and most important thing should be to bring ISI under civilian control.
Secondly, harsh punishments should be meted out to people like dirty Harry in the army to set a deterrent.

I think they will try to assassinate IK again, that is their solution.

Well those who still believe in this American hegemony, are in for a shock. America's influence around the world is fast eroding, its petrodollar's influence is waning as more and more countries are looking to de-dollarize. America is bleeding tens of billion ($40 billion) of dollars in Ukraine, it has already hemorrhaged $2 trillion in Iraq (17 years) and Afghanistan (20 years) wars, Saudis have told America to eff off when they wanted the Saudis to not cut production, Qatar just a $60 gas deal with China and told Europe to eff off.

The West is losing against Russia and China, in such circumstances if people still believe that America can win in Pakistan, they're sadly mistaken. If people still insist upon it, as them why is Moduro is still in power? Why Assad is still in power? Why Cuba is not pro-American after 60 years of sanctions and existing still after an invasion attempt by U.S.

Sure the military officers go to america and britain for training, but that doesn't mean that they would sell their souls to the devil. There are good officers in Pakistan Army and it will most certainly be an interesting insurrection within the armed forces of Pakistan to break away from Washington and London.

Islam is our foundation for existence and it is Islam which will prevail whether Pakistan exists or not.

Bajwa to address the nation.

1. That is not his prerogative. The onus is on the President whose the commander in Chief or head of state the PM to address the nation.

2. Why doesn’t he hold a press conference like Anjum? Or he can’t handle the heat?

Seriously wrong with the Chiefs. Do they understand their job description?

Agree and the Army act needs to be changed so that the COAS can be hired and fired directly by the sitting PM at any time - there should be no theatrics required to fire a COAS - as is the case in all civilised democracies .. The barrier to fire a COAS in Pakistan is simply too high right now ...

You have Haqqani and Lisa on the same panel, all you're going to hear are Pakistan hating fantasies, rather then facts.

It can be very costly to misread global situation as Russia found out in Ukraine in both military and economic terms.

US is NOT economically stressed by Ukraine - Russian War in monetary terms. War in Ukraine has rather created conditions that led to increase in American Energy Exports.

COVID-19 pandemic affected Global economic trends and supply lines in current times. China continues to impose lockdowns in view of resurge in Covid cases.

Ukraine - Russian War has produced effects in Europe and Russia for sure, but Europe will find a way to readjust to new ground realities.

USD collapse "speculations" are OLD and proven wrong on a consistent basis. USD remains incredibly strong even in current times of economic stress.

It is important to understand why USD remains very strong on a consistent basis. Do you think Petrodollars is becoming irrelevant? Unlikely:

Russian economic shift is too small to make an impact. Russian economic future is bleak unless it decides to make amends with the WEST.

Simple explanation is that financial holdings in USD are valuable to many countries around the world, and transactions in USD are commonplace around the world. It is not even possible to trade with US otherwise.

US is also doing its economic homework. US has largest holdings of Gold Bricks in the world (Backup Plan) and evaluating Digital Dollar Project (Future Plan).

The WEST is loosing against Russia and China? Not so fast.

Check following posts:

Islam in Pakistan? Mixed situation here.

Anyways:

Global Order is imperfect but WE have to find a way to co-exist in it.

It is important to understand how the Global Order works and which countries can be tapped for the benefit of Pakistan. Cold War Camp Politics does NOT suit Pakistan in the long-term. Pakistan should encourage all (developed) countries to invest in Pakistan and provide work-related opportunities to Pakistani nationals. This is how the economy can be fixed.

You have very idealistic viewpoints and seem to overlook that the entire world is struggling in some way or form. Step out from your fold and see it yourself.
