China's oldest Koran manuscript has been on display in northwest China's Qinghai Province since last month, making its debut to the public.

Estimated to be between 1,100 and 1,300 years old, the Koran is considered to be one of the three oldest manuscripts in the world.

The 867-page manuscript is comprised of 30 volumes and packaged in two slipcases, weighing 12.79 kilograms. Its rhinoceros skin cover is printed with beautiful patterns, while the cover of each volume is framed with blue silk.

It was added to the Catalogue of National Rare Ancient Books in 2009, and underwent restoration by domestic experts in 2017. The restored book was then stored in a climate-controlled glass cabinet that features adjustable oxygen levels, temperature and humidity.

According to legend, the ancestors of the Salar minority group, who believe in Islam, carried the Koran leaving their homeland in central Asia, and settled in what is now the Salar County of Xunhua, Qinghai Province, in the 13th century. The book is currently kept at the county's Jiezi mosque.

"I took my relatives with me to the exhibit. It is a treasure of our ethnic group and country," said Han Guolong, a local villager of the Salar minority group. "Seeing the manuscript, I feel deeply impressed."

Every day, the exhibit attracts about 6,000 visitors, who mainly come from Qinghai and neighboring Gansu Province, where many Muslims live.

Says the crazy who is pretty high on the coming out of nothing juice and takes that self inflicted imprisonment on the mind as being intelligent.

Try looking beyond the self disillusioned and distracted concept of life and you might get enlightened at some point in your life.

Half of world's top AI unicorns come from China

Six of the 11 artificial intelligence (AI) startups that are considered to be unicorns – which means to have a value of one billion U.S. dollars or above – come from China, according to CB Insights, a research firm that tracks venture capital and startups.

SenseTime took the top spot with a valuation of 4.5 billion U.S. dollars, followed by Yitu Technology at 2.3 billion U.S. dollars and smaller unicorns 4Paradigm, Horizon Robotics and Momenta.

The annual report published by CB Insights compiles a list of 100 of the most promising private companies. The selection is based on several factors, including patent activity, investor profile and market potential. From emerging startups to established unicorns, the cohort is a mix of startups in different stages of funding and product commercialization.

Twenty-three startups on the list are headquartered outside the U.S., including six each from China, Israel, and the United Kingdom.

China accounted for 17 of the top 20 academic institutions involved in patenting AI and was particularly strong in the fast-growing area of “deep learning” – a machine-learning technique that includes speech recognition systems.

    The country unveiled a
    national AI development plan
in July 2017, aiming to build an AI technologically world-leading domestic industry by 2030. The value of China's core AI industries is expected to exceed 150 billion yuan (22.15 billion US dollars) by 2020 and 400 billion yuan (59.07 billion US dollars) by 2025.

China and the United States are ahead of the global competition to dominate AI, according to a study by the UN World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) published January.
