China on Thursday announced even more military diplomatic activities with neighboring Asian countries following the country's defense chief's attendance of the ninth ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus) this week, in a move experts said will bolster trust, cooperation and joint defense capability in the region, and which will build immunity against external instigations and fears that a Ukraine-like crisis could happen in the Asia-Pacific in the form of the Taiwan question or the South China Sea issue.

At the invitation of the Bangladesh Navy, the Chinese Navy will send the destroyer Changsha to participate in the International Fleet Review scheduled to be held in Bangladesh in early December and participate in related celebration activities, China's Ministry of National Defense said in a statement on Thursday.

The armed forces of China and Laos will hold the third friendly border defense exchange in their border region in late November, announced Senior Colonel Wu Qian, a spokesperson for the Chinese Defense Ministry, at a regular press conference on Thursday.

The 33rd joint patrol between the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Southern Theater Command and the Vietnam People's Navy will get underway in the Beibu Gulf from Thursday to Friday, Wu said.

Another newly announced event is the expert video conference of the Beijing Xiangshan Forum hosted by the PLA Academy of Military Sciences on the theme of promoting the Global Security Initiative and jointly safeguarding peaceful development. It will be held on December 1 and 2, with more than 40 experts from 14 countries and one international organization confirming they will attend, Wu said.

These announcements came only a day after Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister General Wei Fenghe attended the 9th ADMM-Plus in Cambodia and delivered a speech in which he called for world solidarity and fairness instead of hegemony and division, and called on countries to practice the Global Security Initiative and work together to build a solid barrier for universal security.

During the event, Wei met respectively with defense chiefs of the US, Vietnam, Laos, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea, as well as the Russian deputy defense minister, exchanging views on strengthening military cooperation and issues of common concerns.

Before the ADMM-Plus, Wei also met with defense chiefs of Indonesia and Singapore respectively last week, and those meetings saw the resumption of the joint exercises between the Chinese and Indonesian militaries which were postponed by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as an agreement on a series of joint exercises between the Chinese and Singaporean armies and navies.

On November 18, the PLA Navy's Peace Ark hospital ship wrapped up its seven-day "Mission Harmony-2022," a good-will visit to Indonesia during which medical staff provided medical treatment to 13,488 local people and carried out 37 surgeries.

Southeast Asian countries are China's good neighbors and partners, and having military cooperation is in line with all countries' security interests, a Beijing-based military expert who requested anonymity told the Global Times on Thursday.

China's military diplomatic activities are efforts to promote cooperation that will build closer security ties which will contribute to regional peace, stability and prosperity, the expert said.

Typical areas for cooperation include joint exercises, dialogues for defense policies, personnel training, equipment development, medical assistance, disaster relief and anti-piracy, the expert said.

Cooperation will also build immunity against countries from outside the region, particularly the US, which is attempting to hook in countries around China to join its ranks in containing the country, and splitting the Asia-Pacific region in the process for its own hegemonic interests, the expert said. There are fears that the US is attempting to create an Asian version of the Ukraine crisis using the leverage of the Taiwan question or the South China Sea issue, he said.

In his meeting with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Tuesday, Wei reiterated the red line of the Taiwan question once again, emphasizing that the Taiwan question is the core of China's core interests and the first insurmountable red line in China-US relations. Taiwan is China's Taiwan, and the settlement of the Taiwan question is the Chinese people's own affair and brooks no foreign interference.

The military tensions between China and the US in the West Pacific are still high, and under such circumstances, China has made it clear that its national security interests must not be challenged, Chen Xiangmiao, director of the world navy research center at the National Institute for South China Sea Studies, told the Global Times on Thursday.

Whether it is the conflict between Russia and Ukraine or the situation across the Taiwan Straits, they are all related to regional security, Chen said. The discussion on security is not only between China and the US, which is why China has also called for conversations among multiple countries and regions, he said.

China has made it clear that it will realize its great national rejuvenation through peaceful means and push forward its modernization peacefully, Chen noted. Meanwhile, when it comes to safeguarding China's own national security interests, it has no room for compromise, Chen said.

I believe Indian companies themselves have developed the VLF radars.

So, how long it will take for our great BD talents to develop the same and install it around Orissa coast? I hope it will not take another million years. Or, is one million years a short period to do so?

I don't think VLF radars for sub-detection are self-developed in India. Don't believe their propaganda. Most of their defence items including radar are imported or produced under license. Which they will not admit. Most of their high technology items are produced under ToT.

Bangladesh is not in a position to make VLF radars and neither are similar size countries like Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia etc. We are in a far worse position than India in the defence field. But India is also in a far worse position compared to China.

Bold part: When a thing is produced under a license or even by a foreign company in another country, by definition, it is the product of that country. So, if the VLFs are not imported and are produced on Indian soil it is Indian products.

What really I want to say is instead of grumbling about India, BD people should focus on how to manufacture millions of products in factories inside BD.

But, when it is industrial products, BD is a failure and its citizens do not help the country just by criticizing other countries' achievements. The citizens should criticize the very weak mindset of their countrymen, politicians, and bureaucrats hoping someday they will open their eyes and start building the country by establishing manufacturing plants.

I personally do not see any such sign, yet our talented people sing the chorus of a 2041 developed country as if just saying it will make BD such a country.

Awamis will commit political suicide if they allow any such thing. Any naked compromise with sovereignty of Bangladesh will not go unchallenged by the oppositions and armed forces. Awami faced a lot of criticism for signing 25 years 'Bangladesh-India friendship treaty' in 1972 so much so that they did not dare to renew that in 1997. This surveillance radar would be too much challenge for even for the biggest Bhada in Bangladesh. Plus our relation with China will suffer which I think no govt. in Bangladesh would want. That's why this radar thing is in the shelf after signing MoU in 2018 with no progress since. Awamis will not take such a big risk when election is within the horizon and this time opposition parties are wiling to fight with mass mobilization.

Well like I said, these shameless bhakts will leave no stone unturned until AL will suffer the consequences.

If AL takes a fall for this, no big deal, they will deal again with whomever's in power again.

This is the fallacy people in power in Bangladesh don't get.

Dealing with Indians and RAW is always a lose/lose.

You may stand to gain a few piecemeal favors temporarily like Hasina did, but long term its not a gain overall when you make the Chinese unhappy over the long term.

India is geographically blessed to be sitting in the shape of a dagger in the Indian Ocean. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are the most strategically located islands anywhere in the world.

1. Land-Based air power:
The Indian Air Force has a large number of air bases in the peninsular region. There are also many international airports, and major naval airbases. IAF has significant military air action at Trivandrum, Sulur and Thanjavur. The operational radii of action of the Su-30 MKI is 1,500 kilometres, which increases to over 2,000 kilometres with one aerial refuelling. This would increase further if the aircraft would land back at A&N Island airbases. The coverage from Car Nicobar Islands extends into significant parts of South China Sea. Distance from Jamnagar or Pune, to the Gulf of Oman is 1,100 km and Gulf of Aden 2,100 km. Operating from Pune or Jamnagar airbase, IAF can cover significant distance westward. It can be seen that the aircraft can cover from the Gulf of Aden to well past Malacca Strait and significant parts of northern Indian Ocean. Combined with the fact that there is now a Sukhoi base in Thanjavur, one can only imagine the huge strategic heft that India gets in the Indian Ocean Region
Su-30s now come equipped with the 2.5-tonne air-launched BrahMos

2.Andaman and Nicobar Islands airstrips:

Indian naval air station Baaz is located near Campbell Bay, on Great Nicobar Island. The runway have been extended recently by 900 feet to around 4,400 feet. Later there are plans to extend the runway to 6,000 feet and even 10,000 feet. Once beyond 6,000 then aircraft like Indian Navy’s P8i Poseidon and IAF’s C-130 aircraft will also be able to operate.

At 10,000 feet it will be able to operate all fully loaded fighter class aircraft. Indian fighters, if deployed at the base, can reach the Malacca Strait in minutes.

Shibpur is an Indian naval air station located on North Andaman Island. It acts as a Forward Operating Air Base (FOAB) for enhanced surveillance in North Andaman, it presently operates Dornier Do 228 aircraft

3. Airstrips in friendly island territories:

There is a MoU between the Government of Mauritius and the GOI to develop the Agaléga islands and allow India to set up a military base with full runway at North Agalega that can be used for transit and specific operations. India also has radar outposts and other surveillance means at Seychelles, Madagascar and Mauritius

Defence of island and peninsular airfields

There are at times concerns aired about island runways being denied because they are within the range of the Chinese CJ-10 GLCMs and DF-21 IRBMs deployed by the PLA. The same logic can apply to all the runways built by China on the reclaimed Islands in South China Sea. India’s mainland airfields will be defended as per air defence of India operational plans. Andaman and Nicobar Islands are large territories and will be suitably defended with air defence assets, that are no less than an aircraft carrier.

Where's the Proof ? India's air defence and surveillance network is dependent on indian built and designed radars. India has mastered radar tech over the past few decades and has now successfully produced aesa radars too.

Yes it is. These deluded bhakts are itching for some Chinese medicine.

The sooner it is administered - the better for their own mental health. :-)

I heard that India's weak defense industry is concentrated in only a few cities. real?

They have only sold only a few things historically to some insignificant countries in exchange for bribing officials in there.

In most of those countries - they become persona-non-grata because those immature armament systems fail soon after delivery. They sold some helis I believe to Ecuador and other South American countries, of which about half crashed with fatalities. They will never sell any arms to South America again if those people have any sense.

The minute they sell a few bullets anywhere - they will launch a thousand websites bragging about it.

To all Indian Sanghis, their mouths and their websites are their biggest effective weapons.

China has double the number of foreign outposts (or maybe more) - than India does.
