China's homegrown "Haiji-1", Asia's first 300-meter deepwater platform, started operation in offshore areas of south China's Zhuhai City on Monday, symbolizing new modeling in deep-sea oil and gas exploration.
China's Largest Onshore Single Wind Turbine Completes Blade Installment
China's largest onshore single wind turbine completed blade installment on Thursday in Kazak Autonomous County of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, marking a construction milestone of the mega wind power project which has an installed capacity of 800,000MW.
Large Deep-water Gas Field Detected off South China's Hainan Island
China's offshore oil operator CNOOC announced on Wednesday that it had discovered a large deep-water natural gas field with a proven reserve of over 50 billion cubic meters in the Qiongdongnan basin off the southeast coast of the Hainan Island in south China.

China rolls out core component of world's largest "artificial sun"
BEIJING, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- China has rolled out a core component in the world's largest nuclear fusion reactor project, also known as the world's largest "artificial sun", its developer said Tuesday.
The production of the enhanced-heat-flux first wall panel of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), has been completed, with its performances substantially higher than design requirements, and thus suitable for mass production, according to its developer, Southwestern Institute of Physics under the China National Nuclear Corporation.
The ITER's first wall panel, designed to have immediate contact with plasma as hot as 100 million degrees Celsius, is regarded as one of the most pivotal components in the reactor core, China's Science Daily reported on Tuesday.
The ITER, one of the largest and most important international scientific research projects in the world, is reputed as an "Artificial Sun" since it generates clean, carbon-free energy in a way similar to the sun by emitting light and heat via fusion reactions.
The project is jointly funded by the European Union, China, the United States, Japan, Republic of Korea, India and Russia.
World's 2nd Largest Hydropower Station Set for Full Operation
The Baihetan hydropower station, the world's second largest hydropower station straddling the provinces of Yunnan and Sichuan in southwest China, entered its final preparation stage on Monday, with expectations that it will hold a total installed capacity of 16 million kilowatts.
China's self-developed deepwater gas field commences construction of phase II project
BEIJING, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- China's first independently-developed ultra-deepwater gas field Shenhai Yihao, or Deep Sea No. 1, has commenced the construction of its phase II project, the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) said Friday.
The phase II project, located 200 km offshore from Sanya, south China's Hainan Province, is expected to increase the natural gas reserves of Shenhai Yihao from 100 billion cubic meters to 150 billion cubic meters once it is completed, according to the CNOOC.
Aiming to drill 12 wells, it will also expand the peak annual output of the gas field to 4.5 billion cubic meters, equivalent to 90 percent of Hainan's natural gas consumption in 2021, the company said.
Liu Shujie, the chief engineer with the CNOOC's Hainan branch, said the phase II project would progress under more complicated seabed geological conditions, overcoming water depth, high temperature, and high pressure.
The total depth of drilling will surpass 60,000 meters, 220 percent more than phase I and unparalleled in a global comparison, Liu said.
Put into operation in June 2021, the Shenhai Yihao ultra-deepwater gas field is the deepest of its kind in China.
