PHNOM PENH, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia had exported 84,419 tons of dry rubber in the first six months of 2018, up 21 percent over the same period last year, according to a General Directorate of Rubber report on Saturday.

The Southeast Asian nation earned a gross revenue of 121 million U.S. dollars from the export during the January-June period this year, down 2.3 percent over the same period last year, the report said.

"A ton of dry rubber averagely cost 1,434 U.S. dollars in the first semester of 2018, about 336 U.S. dollars lower than that of the first semester of 2017," Pol Sopha, director general of the General Directorate of Rubber at the Ministry of Agriculture, said in the report.

Cambodia exports the commodity to Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore and China.

According to the report, the country has 436,299 hectares of rubber plantations in which 173,017 hectares are old enough to be harvested.
