These incompetent guys apparently get appointed on "Suparish"/ "Sifarish". Probably never heard of risk averse philosophies i.e. Disaster Recovery and/or resiliency planning in foodstocks. Bunch of gadhas.

Entire AL cabinet is akhra of nepotism.

This is the question asked during appointment,

Q - "Was your bhanja's (Bhatija's) mother's cousin a minor Chetona '71 chowkidar aka AL sycophant ?"

A - "Yes"

"Great! You're hired !!".

Doesn't matter the guy read up to class eight.

Not a problem at all that shows you are flexible to meet domestic demands if there is a need. Vietnam also imports huge amount of rice from India.

Bhai manlam - but that is what I was talking about.

India is not a fair and square trading partner.

Taka deposit nia ghuraitey thakbey, Hoiranir uporey hoirani. They are a thoroughly unreliable Banya itor class of businesspeople. Even Ambani level people.

Witness last year's Onion and Potato fiascoes. Then latest is vaccine fiasco a few weeks ago.

Disey kisu? Koek mash Ghuraia turaia tarporey boley dewa jabey na.

Eguli keno korey? Par paia jabey tai korey. Janey tara eishob bhogi chogi repeat korleo kono problem nai.

Eideshey tader bandha pa-chata kotoguli dalal aasey chowkider goser. Hindu-Musalman kono faraq nai. Chowkider is chowkider.

Tara ta bhalobhabei janey.

Ek lakh ton ki puratai Indiar kacchey order dewa dorkar chhilo?

Ordhek onno kichhu deshey diley ki hoitona? Kintu tailey churi dhakbey kibhabey?

Dekhben koidin porey aisha bolbey "Amader nijeder chal nai, tai dewa jabeyna".

Majhkhan theika Dorbesh ar Hasinar Swiss bank account a taka pouchaia jabey, chaul o pawa jabey na.
Bro there's no point cutting off our own nose to spite our face.

India - or any other country - are no friend of ours, but they are right next door. If the price is reasonable then it makes most sense to order from there. Transport is easier and cheaper, the whole process can happen much quicker. It's business.

Cabinets will always be filled with incompetent nincompoops because of political reasons. Irrespective of which government in power, with a few exceptions. Apart from the cabinet, there are many bureaucrats who reach the top through the family connection and political affiliation and not simply on merit. Especially on the lucrative ministries. That is harmful because they are the ones who actually drive these decisions, not the ministers.

There are so many competent people who have genuine interest in driving the country forward. But unfortunately these guys don't get the promotions to reach the top and really make a difference due to lack of connection.

I don't mind someone reaching the top through connection as well as merit and experience. And there are bureaucrats like that. It's the incompetent ones I worry about.

For poor people in the city and people in the villages- rice is used for all three meals. And they are the majority in Bangladesh. Wheat is expensive compared to rice since we don't produce as much and depend on imports.

As the country heads into another round of lockdown, more relief handouts to the poor on an urgent basis will be needed. This appears to be an emergency re-stocking. Hence time to transport was a factor. If the cost was reasonable, quality isn't substandard and it meets our timely requirement, there shouldn't be any problem importing from India.
As far as I know, wheat is cheaper than rice throughout the world. Why do you think it is different in BD. All kinds of BD people certainly eat breakfast with wheat-based Roti throughout BD. Nan is available probably in old Dhaka.

No one talked against importing rice from India but talked against importing itself. With such vast farmland where the rice acreage is 21 million acres and two rice crops a year how is it that BD is not an exporting country but, an importing country.

However, people here celebrate BD lands are most fertile. Why the reality is different?

It's not cheaper in Bangladesh.

Bangladeshi climate isn't dry and suitable for wheat, apart from northern districts, wheat can't be produced elsewhere if I am not mistaken. Hence we import a lot of wheat. In fact they import a lot of wheat from Canada. It adds to the cost.

The primary issue is mismanagement of food stock storage rather than production of rice. There are syndicates involved who stocks and holds rice to increase price artificially by creating shortage. And these syndicates have political affiliation and gets a free pass. Poor farmers unfortunately see none of that price increase.

they can eat roti like us :D:P
Yes, but I bet you they won't. :D
Nan is available probably in old Dhaka.
You mean nan/tundul/tanduri roti and patla? Often use as evening snack and sometimes to serve guest and very few time in dinner. Goes usually with seekh kabab, fried and grilled chicken. There are at least 3-4 types of nan/tundul/tanduri roti available. Normal one with lowest prices between 5-15tk called patla. Other like special, butter and garlic nan is available at 20-40tk AFAIK. And no, it's available in normal Bangladeshi restaurants in every major cities.

What's so special about eating nan/tundul/tanduri ruti and patla instead of rice?

Even there is little milk whereas Pakistan is full of buffalo milk.
54 percent (8.08 million tonnes against the requirement of 15.04 million tonnes) total milk production per year in Bangladesh is LITTLE? :what: What matter is self-sufficiency, so what's the point in comparing us with Pakistan? :what: @Destranator

.

that is why people are short in stature.
What's the average height should be in BD in your opinion?

For poor people in the city and people in the villages- rice is used for all three meals. And they are the majority in Bangladesh.
I don't know how many people are dirt-poor in BD but many of them can afford roti and even parata in their breakfast.

It's not cheaper in Bangladesh.
Looks like it's cheaper than rice.

It doesn't matter if class eight pass Goplapi becomes PM of this country two times or "Chatona '47" Khojakar become minister in her cabinet but someone feels pain in his chest if he sees class 8 pass BAL lackey in the cabinet. FYI Chetona '71 chowkidars don't eat garbage like carrot, radish and chicken like Chatona '47 habildars, they do breakfast with quality Black Bengal's meat.

You come into almost every post which has something positive about India and throw shit and do trolling.
Cause he is suffering from serious mental illness and paranoia about India. And his doctor @Nilgiri ain't here, so he now freely dangles his brain-dick around here with his fathers blessings.

Nan or rice, the issue is Bd has a shortage of foods and that is why people are short in stature. Even there is little milk whereas Pakistan is full of buffalo milk. However, our stupid BAL brats are fond of bragging about an empty GDP figure faked by the BBS.
I am stumped by these terms, what does BAL/BBS stands for?

Bhai, I hope you are not a hatchet man for the Pak Punjabi establishment.
Your only job seems to be vile criticism of anything Indian.
You come into almost every post which has something positive about India and throw shit and do trolling.
Since Pak Punjabis lost the war against a combined Bengali-Indian Army force in 1971, the humiliation is deep and does not go away easily.
Getting a Bengali Muslim to then take on India on this forum probably assuages their pain and gives mental orgasms of happiness.
Since when does a Bengali Muslim need to take a certificate on being a good Muslim from the Pak Punjabis. Do you feel that you are an inferior Muslim so you have to curry favours from the superior Punjabi Muslim.

And is Pakistan an El Dorado. Nothing wrong happens there. Is Pakistan the land of the pure where everything takes place as per the Koran.

Bangladesh Muslims are far better than any Pak Punjabi Muslim.

Fair Criticism of any country is welcome but not pathetic trolling.
I hope we can see a few posts criticising defects in Pakistan also if you want to be seen as unbiased and fair.

Expect better from you, mate.
try to lick harder more hard until he satisfied . pak punjabis

I am stumped by these terms, what does BAL/BBS stands for?
BAL = Bangladesh Awami League
BBS = Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics.

From a risk management perspective- why did we wait until the final hours to replenish the reserves. What happens if India is unable to supply the required quantity?
That is the crucial point we should be talking about.

A. Why does the BAL cabinet "Manufacture" these emergencies consistently? Necessitating hurried imports from India? Solely from India, because "we don't have time!" ?
B. Why is Indian Govt. always ready to cater to our emergency purchases, except when the Onion and Potato shortage crisis occurred in their country?

Not only do we have to question these burbak ministers' competence for these hurried ad-hoc imports, we have to ask why plans were not made in advance to facilitate imports from other countries besides India using ocean shipping.

Did Covid just creep up on these ministers all of a sudden? Hasn't it been going on for well over a year now? What part of rapidly depleting food stocks in cold-storage did they not understand?? If you are food minister, shouldn't you be watching this (your primary job)?

This kind of incompetence usually causes ministers to step down in other countries. But we live in a "Be-sharam" (shameless) country where accountability does not mean jack.

Hasina has not shown this type of action because (it is common knowledge in Bangladesh) that the decision to appoint these India-friendly ministers is at the prerogative of the Indian govt. itself (her actual baap). Foodstocks Minister, Railway Minister, you name it, they are all Indian tabedars and wafadars (footservant) under Indian payroll.

Indian Govt. "plans" the emergencies in Bangladesh, and then also plans to "cater" to those emergencies using Bangladeshi money. Great game.

Dhonno amader desh ! Marhaba !

Thanks. I stand corrected then.

It is ridiculous though- rice, our staple food which we produce in such vast amounts, costs more than wheat, which we must depend on imports. That is absolutely not natural.
