Russia’s state arms exporter Rosoboronexport denied on Wednesday media reports that it had lost tenders on the delivery of heavy-lift helicopters and aerial tankers to the Indian air force.

AFAIK the MRTT is still to be announced but the A330 is the clear favourite. And the Chinook is a foregone conclusion. IIRC the Russians were hesitant to announce they'd lost the heavy attack helo and MMRCA contests too.
But they are right that there was no official announcement about the heavy helicopter deal either.

Does anyone know what variant of the Chinooks that India is gonna get? There are multiple variants so am not sure what India is going for.

BTW the Mi 26 is actually much bigger and much more powerful than the Chinook. The Mi 26 has been used to rescue stranded Chinooks in Afghanistan.

@Wickerman It'll be the latest transport version-the CH-47F.
