Bangladesh to overcome economic crisis by 2026: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that Bangladesh will overcome financial crisis by 2026.

"During my visit, I had unofficial visits with many leaders of the world, all of whom fear that the year 2023 will be a bleak and disastrous period. Everyone fears imminent worldwide poverty in the upcoming year," the premier said while addressing a press conference, regarding her UK and US visit, from Ganabhaban on Thursday (6 October).

"We had plans to recover from economic crisis by 2024. But due to the coronavirus pandemic, we took two years extra, and have now targeted 2026. The Awami League government is working for the development of the country. Bangladesh is marching forward overcoming economic crises," she added.

"We are leaning towards economic development. In the case of this year's budget, we allocated more than the last year's. We are not lagging behind in case of targeted development," said the premier.

She also said, "When I had meetings in Washington, I shared with them all that I have been constantly urging our countrymen to cultivate food in their respective lands and farms. We have also called for austerity in use of electricity and all other resources."

PM Hasina returned home early Tuesday (4 October) after completing her 18-day visit to the UK and the US.

She went to London on 15 September, mainly to attend Queen Elizabeth II's funeral and a reception hosted by King Charles llI.

On 19 September, she left London for New York while on 24 September she went to Washington DC.

Sheikh Hasina addressed the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly on 23 September. She also took part in several events on the sidelines of the UNGA.

Who says the crisis will go in 2026? No way. the financial crisis will start in 2024 and will continue for many decades to come until BD repays the loan money.

After that, BD will become another like the Banana Republic which is still suffering by trying to do what Hasina Bibi is trying now. That is, borrow foreign money, steal a part and do a few cement-concrete projects that can be photographed.

However, things may change if our exports of garments reach between $80 to $100 billion per year someday.

Translation : She will be in power in 2026 !
Well can't it be a different translation? Although he gave a codition that if a single counselor doesn't want her , she will go!

Still can't we draw the conclusion that she might planing for her safe exit?

However this is the information only God himself and Sheikh Hasina know!

But tbh your translation is more accurate, as she is a Bangladeshi, and she always ready to go and BAL doesn't let her go! :P

Chinese think tanks also believe that the world financial crisis will occur in 2023, which will be larger than that of 2008. In addition, Buffett of the United States has cashed out, and Musk, the richest man, also believes that there will be an economic crisis from 2022 to 2023.The Chinese government is ready. Real estate and the stock market are low.

No, she wants to remain in power in and beyond 2026 by Hook or Crook. however, it is not that all her wishes will be materialized.

No doubt, she will be ousted in 2023 and hanged for conspiring and organizing to kill 57 military officers in Pilkhana.

Bangladeshi military officers have been killing each other ever since their inception.

Ershad and Zia murdered hundreds of officers. Ershad himself assassinated Zia. And Zia killed many officers including col Taher.

The military is perfectly capable of organising coups and assassinations.

THEY DON’T need Hasina.

@UKBengali why are Bangladeshi military officers such a pathetic bunch?

An underdeveloped BD is only partially integrated to the world economy. So, the world financial crisis will have little effects on tiny BD.

However, countries such as China, India, Japan, etc. may face difficulties. But, if the economy is a zero sum game and these countries fare badly, who will win the game?

Is it only America? I doubt it because the world economy is almost fully integrated

The economic crisis will occur in Europe, Europe and Japan will be very miserable! The economic center will accelerate its shift to Asia.

USA will also be fine due to it's technology and natural resources.

Europeans will have to adjust to permanently lower living standards.
America looks good through the media! But after a rate hike this year, about $1 trillion in interest will have to be paid. The US national debt will continue to increase in the future!

They can afford it and anyway they will save lots when they cut down their bloated military to a more reasonable size as China becomes a true peer.

Us military spending will only increase, not decrease.

US Dollar might will keep US at the top of the pile.

China doesn’t pose an economic threat because it cannot attract foreign talent or capital flight.

That’s because USA, for all its fault, will not arbitrarily confiscate wealth or police creativity.

To be truly great you have to attract the best talent.

U.K. and USA still monopolise the world’s best talent.

China will probably peak at 25 thousand dollars per capita.

That will indeed make it a peer of USA but not enough to displace it.

To be a 40k per capita country (except oil countries) - you need true freedom and discourse.

China will never allow that level of discourse because of the risk to its cohesion.
