BANGLADESHIS ATTACK LOCAL IN MEGHALAYA
Five people including a local headman were seriously injured when a group of Bangladeshis numbering about 35 to 40 allegedly attacked them
at Amjalong near Dawki at around 3 pm on Sunday. The incident occurred when around 35 to 40 Bangladeshis allegedly encroached into a territory under adverse possession of India near boundary pillar No.1283. As soon as the news spread, villagers from Amjalong along with the land owners arrived at the spot to drive away the Bangladeshis. However, villagers came under attack from the Bangladeshi miscreants who were armed with sticks. Several local people sustained injuries when they were attacked by the miscreants.
It was also reported that the miscreants tried to forcibly take one Parlok Pipra to Bangladesh
, but failed to do so. The injured persons were identified as Diren Patroh, Parlok Pipra, Kudiram Basumatry, Pohlong Lynthong and local headman of Amjalong village Rajen Beh. The injured were rushed to Dawki PHC. Interestingly, sources informed that the incident occurred in the presence of the BSF personnel. When contacted, BSF spokesman Ravi Gandhi admitted that the incident had occurred but, however, claimed that the BSF in Muktapur has sorted out the issue with the Border Guards Bangladesh.
