You Hinduvta trolls want to create chaos in BD.
Why do you call everyone Hindutva troll if anyone slightly go against Hasina? It's absurd and embarrassing! IMHO, you are becoming the cause of declining her popularity here!

Everyone has the right to criticize, just try to make sure that the criticism is constructive!

He is too elite to be PM of Bangladesh. But, he is a great economist. I would love to see him leading our Finance Ministry.
Brother , Hussein Shahid Sohrawardi, was too elite too , as well as Sher e Bangla!

Still they were far superior leaders than any other Bangladeshi politician!

Maybe Sher e Bangla was nearer to common people , but what about Sohrawardi?

I wish Mr Reza Kibria become two term PM of Bangladesh! Then also can be finance minister!

As we want a Bangladesh where no family dynasty will rule.

Dynastic rule isn't democracy , doesn't matter how many people support it!

I haven't followed him much. Where does he stand on foreign policy? Pro West, Pro China or Neutral?
People say he is pro west! I would say Gano Odhikar porishod wants balance!

If we don't have dynastic rule , I don't think it does really matter what his position is!

Their mandate is to abolish family dynastic rule from Bangladesh, and no one can be prime minister for more than 2 term in his/her life time!

What does me having Canadian flags have to do with your supreme leaders capabilities? As you can't counter with facts you drove off on a tangent.

Dude, you really asked such a dumb question there?

Of course we need to know as we have no idea about your background and so cannot gain any perspective on your comments.

Everyone has their own biases as they are only human.

Dude,

See my comments on BAL.

I literally call for these bastards to be beaten up by RAB.

When people make up GDP numbers and lies about debt default - it’s not about BAL or Hasina.

They are lying about our country.

These buggers did the same during covid.

They shut up only when they ran out of oxygen.

The same hyaenas are back and will disappear when their lies hit reality.

The only person who brings objective facts is @UKBengali.

The rest just spout opinions or Hinduvta propaganda.

These are hard facts about BD:

1. Foreign reserves have stabilised at 40 billion US dollars and so that is enough for 6 months worth of imports - compare to Pakistan at 8 billion US dollars.

2. External debt to GDP ratio is at only 11% of GDP - compare to Pakistan at 40%.

3. Debt repayments last year were just 5% of total BD revenues - compare to 25% for Pakistan.

There are a few of types here with negative comments - the ignorant and/or the trolls.

BD is just proactively taking asking about IMF loans under good conditions as it does not want to face a situation where it needs to cut back on essential public services. It will not take these IMF loans if it does not like the conditions that IMF imposes as then the cost-benefit ratio will not be favourable to BD.

A bit like why suffer now when you can easily afford a loan and pay back with a little interest over a number of years?

Anyway the loan cannot be agreed before October this year at the earliest and BD economic situation may get better with many billions of extra foreign exchange reserves by then. BD may decide that it has no need for any IMF loans in this case.

India and Pakistan are driven by ego.

Look how both shunned LDC status despite being piss poor.

Thus did not benefit from LDC facilities.

During covid they shunned help from donors - pride before fall.

BD has always put the country before the pride of the elite.

We avoided a covid disaster by getting vaccines from everyone who offered.

And now taking loans as precaution.

Common people don’t give a toss about IMF pontifications. It goes over their head.

Yes BD does not do things for show unlike other countries. Opting to be a LDC was one of those things.

It does not care what some people will say if it asks for loan from IMF. They are not important compared to the overall well-being of the BD'shi people.

It's economy is fundamentally sound and those that are important(lenders such as ADB and development partners like China) won't change their opinion about BD if it approaches IMF as they have some of the best economists advising them on the real state of the BD economy.

These buggers did the same during covid.
During COVID-19 all Bangladeshi news channels , web portals all were busy showing the mismanagement of BAL govt.

If Bangladesh wasn't infected much ( officially) then for sure we test lot less than other countries!

What was called lock down , was not lockdown at all!

What's the point of limiting marketing time if it will create more crowd , because everyone wants to buy in EID?

Police patrol was only in main roads on small towns ; outside main roads no one even bother wear mask!

Govt ministers took a decision in the morning , and literally changed it in the afternoon , even didn't wait for night!

So what kind of management it is?

Only wise decision govt took and that it timely closed indian border when the variant of covid 19 (forgot name ) was causing black fungus as well when people was cured from COVID-19!

So in reality BAL govt didn't do well in COVID-19! Actually mismanagement of covid 19 is the reason BAL govt's many old achievements were questioned!

However people can have their different opinions , but IMHO,name calling isn't a better alternative for a civil discussion! Thank you!

If a country is not in crisis, it shouldn’t need imf.
You need imf because you are in crisis.

Common sense it is.
No that is not the case. IMF is not the lender of last resort.

It is the lender with least interest rates but comes with policy strings as IMF mandate is to increase global trade.

Not all countries are part of it (to be part of it you need to pay in to the collective, BD has paid in approx $2b) or approach it for loans.

I think BD is in trouble but it is not in crisis. It is approaching IMF because it has paid for the facility and also because economic restructures has long been needed.

Dude, infection rate is a bollocks measure. And it can be fiddled.

Only thing that matters are:

1. Covid deaths (aka excess deaths)

2. Economic growth / export growth

The above cannot be fiddled.

India tanked on both.

Bangladesh did not.

You cannot hide deaths - even if you burn the bodies.

Neither can you fiddle export numbers.

These buggers think you only borrow from IMF if you are in crisis!

It’s beyond their wits to think that you may borrow to avoid a crisis.
