True, it's ridiculous. Spain had similar problems between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid players (other national teams too) but they were mature to fix it after decades of problems within the squad. It mostly changed because the Spanish FA improved and hired competent people. They also defined a system and a goal. Possession football and a emphasis on working with youngsters to create talents.

In KSA there is nothing of that sort. The FA is a joke, there is no consistency, there is no system, there are no goals. Nothing.

Before that does not change there will not be success again like in the 1980's, 1990's and 2000's.

Which serious FA is firing a good coach (former RM coach) that actually improved the team quite a lot in just 12 months of time because of a lost Gulf Cup final that the team should have won anyway with some luck? 1 month before the AFC? It's like if they deliberately wrote the AFC of and said **** it. If you fire him then hire a long-term replacement that can help the team qualify for the World Cup in 2018. Not a coach that is going back to the UAE after the tournament regardless of the end result. I am not sure how a coach has even a motivation in such a situation. Nothing to lose.

Firstly the salaries in KSA for local players in local clubs should be even further regulated. It prevents players with genuine talent from going abroad. Those that go aboard are too pampered and complain about the salary, weather and what not instead of taking the challenge and proving themselves in tougher environments and develop as players. No, they prefer to go back.
A strong domestic league is important as this is the backbone of the national team but there needs to be a balance. Also unlike other Asian team we have no diaspora based in the West (almost) to pick from who know European football from within etc. and who could serve as role models.

In football you can't have good generations all the time. It's a game of cycles like everything else in life almost. Yet the results in the past 5 years have been far worse than the quality of the team player for player. Despite this generation not being close to past generations in terms of individual quality then the players are still one of the best in Asia. A tier below those of Japan, South Korea, Australia but not even remotely close to being lightyears behind. On the other hand there is no chemistry, no consistency, no proper tactics and a bad mentality when facing adversities.

Much more humble teams in Asia with far less technically gifted players, much slower and physically weaker players have performed much better than KSA for the past 5 years. Why? Because of the above mentioned reasons.

So the main problem is the FA. Even when KSA was the best team in Asia the FA was largely a joke and doing everything to disrupt the team.

I think that KSA should look towards Germany and get a German coach who could install some fierce German discipline. I am not only talking about the head coach for the senior national team but also the youth national teams. This ongoing circus can't go on if the FA wants the team to succeed again. Losing against China and Uzbekistan (to their defense both of those teams have apparently improved a lot in recent years) just tells us everything about the sad state of the national team currently.

Anyway here is hoping that Iraq can surprise and win it all, lol. If not them then UAE. After that Australia, South Korea or Japan.

The German football is indeed fierce, and they always love those big scores against the opponents.

BTW, I remember the last world cup match of China against Brazil, when Brazil has scored 4-0 against our team, they immediately lost the interest, but if it was Germany, they would probably score something like 10-0 or 15-0, since they always play the game seriously.

See the title of the thread bro. You know that tournament that KSA once won 3 times (second only to Japan) and have played more finals in than any other national team out there.

I mean that was back when the players could actually play football.

    16 new coaches in the span of 16 years. That's 1 coach every 12 months. Italian/Spanish conditions.

Imagine where the team could be with a proper FA in place, a vision and structure? Let alone CONSISTENCY. It's a miracle that the team has qualified for 4 out of the 6 latest World Cup's. I still believe that KSA will quality for the World Cup in 2018 even under this madness but things have to improve. Even the Mullah's have more stability despite living in a country that is lightyears behind KSA on many fronts. It's embarrassing.

Great to finish the group strong above 3 khaleeji teams. We practically eliminated Bahrain in our first match.
And we left no chance to Qatar to advance to knockout stages with our win there.
And now we have practically eliminated UAE by serving them to Japan on a silver platter. Greeeeeaaaaat! :D:yay:

The tom jones wannabe aka Abdulrahman was owned by Nekounam practically the entire match (although he had one good stint in the penalty box but it didnt lead to anything).
