Anglosphere's war crimes are part of its white supremacist culture

Editor's note: Bradley Blankenship is a Prague-based American journalist, political analyst and freelance reporter. The article reflects the author's opinions, and not necessarily the views of CGTN.

Almost two weeks ago, the inspector-general of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) released a report on alleged war crimes committed by ADF soldiers in Afghanistan, claiming to have credible evidence.

The report has sparked outrage across the international media; many are demanding justice for the incidents and the Australian government has already apologized and is moving to hold the suspects accountable.

The report, now dubbed the Brereton War Crimes Report, alleges that 19 soldiers with the ADF's elite Special Air Services and commandos regiment had killed at least 39 Afghan civilians, including children.

According to the report, the murders of "prisoners, farmers or civilians" from 2009-2013 resulted from a "warrior culture" among some soldiers.

In addition, it found that junior soldiers were instructed to shoot prisoners to get their first kill. Often, it alleges, weapons were planted on bodies to cover up these crimes. None of the identified incidents could be "described as being in the heat of battle," according to ADF chief General Angus Campbell.

The 19 soldiers implicated could now face prosecution for these murders and an additional 13, who are alleged accessories to the murders or are suspected of lying in testimonies, have been sent notices of likely dismissal by the Australian military.

The Australian government has also said that it will set up an independent panel to review the ADF and provide "accountability and transparency."

Make no mistake, these incidents were not isolated and must have been deeply embedded in the institution of the ADF.
They also represent something much bigger: a deeply rooted cultural problem in the anglophone world.

The former British colonies, such as Australia and the United States, are among the most dehumanizing countries in modern history. That is to say that their foundation on white supremacy and subsequent treatment of the "other" make them unrivaled in their propensity to commit wanton violence against human beings under the auspices that the victims are lesser or sub-human.

In fact, Nazi Germany, the most infamous example of a white supremacist state, was deeply inspired by the former British colonies, which they regarded as sister nations.

They saw the creation of the United States of America and its ascendance to power after World War I, for example, as one of the most significant historical moments for white supremacy, and their jurists drew serious inspiration from American race law, immigration law, "anti-miscegenation" law and even the political construction of whitehood.

Hitler himself marveled about the American immigration system in his unpublished sequel to Mein Kampf, referencing immigration quotas while praising its exclusion of "foreign bodies" from immigration.

The Immigration Act of 1924, according to the Office of the Historian under the U.S. State Department, "limited the number of immigrants allowed entry into the United States through a national origins quota.

The quota provided immigration visas to 2 percent of the total number of people of each nationality in the United States as of the 1890 national census. It completely excluded immigrants from Asia." This was an immigration policy that was inspirational to other anglophone countries, like Australia.

During World War II, the Nazis frequently channeled America's genocide of the Native America in their eastward conquest, murdering the Eastern European population for lebensraum (living space) much in a way that also can also be related to Australia's massacre of the aboriginal population.

It is widely taught in Western schools and in the media that Nazi Germany, its brutal war effort and unspeakable crimes during the Holocaust are quintessential example of the dangerous consequences of racism and dehumanization.

There's no question that there are obviously serious divergences between Nazi Germany and the former British colonies. But the fact that the Nazis drew so much from the anglophone world – including Australia and the United States – on how to dehumanize people should really say something about their cultures.

All of America and Australia's genocidal actions and their "racist past" are gone, just a bad memory or a blemish on an otherwise rich history of liberal democracy.
Yet these countries were and continue to be the pioneers of racism and dehumanization.

Earlier this year, the International Criminal Court (ICC) began investigating alleged war crimes by the United States and other actors in Afghanistan.

It follows a 2016 reported by the ICC, which has been under continual attack by the current American administration for this reporting, that established a reasonable basis to believe the U.S. has torture programs in Afghanistan operated by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The Taliban and Afghan government were also implicated in crimes.

The UK is also coming under fire.
Last week, the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission called on the UK "to open an independent public inquiry to review and investigate the allegations of unlawful killings by the UK Special Forces."

The UK's High Court is also probing whether the government has properly checked alleged incidents of human rights abuses.

It is only after a serious media frenzy that any of this is getting any attention, which shows that these countries' militaries cannot keep themselves accountable over human rights abuses. And the reason is that the victims of these crimes, to them, are not actually human.

It's not an isolated incident – not within the ADF or even to Australia itself – but rather a profound cultural problem of white supremacy across the anglophone world that needs correction.

This sense of superiority is deeply ingrained in the Western psyche. Its roots date all the way back to geographic discoveries, sponsored by both the European clergy and merchant. Western expansionism was as much cultural as economic. It not only plundered material riches, it also plundered cultures and traditions.

What we observe today is the poison spewing out off the mouth of those elites programmed for such superiority complex. They simply cannot believe somebody can stand up them, and slap them back, hurting their very ideology and beliefs.

How can you depict Australian army as child-murderers and rapers when it was exactly what they did?

In fact, the report is just the tip of the iceberg of what the Western countries (US, UK, AU, and CA) did in the Greater Middle East over the past three decades.

They simply run a butchers' campaign.

How does the white supremacist mentality pass on from generation to generation?

How does a white baby born get a white supremacist mentality as he/she becomes older?

It is the white education system, white media and white movies that glorifies white history and with it brainwashes white supremacy into young white people.

Education, media and movies.

US regime brainwashing is the most successful in the world since it creates individuals who deny being brainwashed.

The only way to destroy this mentality is to break their economic backbone.

Their supremacy complex had economic superiority in its genesis. it has to end with the destruction of that superiority. Break down the base-structure, the superstructure should collapse.

The western imperialists were not the most powerful nor the most rich when they went on their global killing spree. The basis of white racist hate is a combination of their genetics and their propaganda. Before they first attacked China or any of its victims, they always created a racist mythology called "orientalism" that demonized their targets as backwards, savages, barbaric, stupid, etc. In other words, they lied.

The way you beat the west is by exposing their crimes all the time. What the tweet by Zhao Lijian shows is that they are scared shit less of being exposed as the racist murderous psychopaths that they are. And, you empower their victims to do the same. In essence, you immunize the world against western propaganda AND to arm those people with weapons to simultaneously attack these western terrorists so they can no longer terrorize the world.

All forms of media, but especially entertainment must be used to constantly remind the world of the true face of these western war criminals. Look at the Jews. They demonize the Nazis all day in their movies, tv shows, games, news, etc. The same type of treatment is required against the imperial Caucasians.

Don't just bring up their war crimes once a year. It should be woven into the fabric of popular media and their wicked deeds turned into common sense around the globe.

The entire world has centuries worth of ill-will towards the most predatory & ruthless subrace in the history of humanity.
A rising power like China
without such destructive heritage , starting on a clean state, can easily choose to become a beacon to the rest of the oppressed world, by avoiding those same crimes against other races and other civilizations.
Held by the throat by the coalition of the 5evileyes , most nations are quietly waiting for China to upend this hierarchy. Instead of being insulated, China should build more bridges with like people on common ground.

For eg the African continent has been well handled by a rising China...they have been humiliated, ridiculed and destroyed by colonizers but China is giving them ways to stand on their own feet without needing to kowtow.
A huge potential for goodwill exists in the Muslim world as they are nursing wounds inflicted even as we speak. Just a few regular doses of Afghanistan type tweets will be a good starter to win some support. A little demonstration of hard power will get more followers.

South America's experience with meddling and regime changes are already yielding leftist / nativity governments.
China should tread carefully at this stage as the world is observing her carefully for signs of hegemonism . She should not become what she is about to eclipse. She should avoid unnecessary scraps with regional powers like India, Indonesia, Japan or Vietnam. If not allies they should be atleast not alienated. As such Western powers are egging them on.

Indeed. The ideological basis of Western supremacism is one duality. The West has to create an evil other to justify its own existence.

The entire history of Western colonialism and imperialism rests on this duality and the ensuing justification. Hence, for example, the genocide carried out in the Americas or colonization and conversion of the Philippines were all on the basis of being magnanimous to the lesser other.

At it's core it is because of a culture of social Darwinism. They fear and hate what is different, and thus regard it is as inferior. Because it is inferior, it must be destroyed. If it cannot be destroyed, then oppose and hinder it, at all cost. This is extremely dangerous because it basically states that anything you do is justified no matter what, because you are strong, you are strong because you're better, and you're better because you're right.

I do not think that most believe in this philosophy just as most are not overt racists. However, through silence, they enable the extremists to take the reigns.

You tagged tower9. I am still yet to be convinced that he's pro-China. At one point he was bashing China. Even Chinese members @Beasts had doubts about him. But he's shown some pro-China stance lately.

British Empire is the most evil regime in entire history, million times more than Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan who gets constantly demonized in thier books an movies. And sad part is since Britain won most of the global wars from 1700s-1900s they were able to write off their crimes from pages of history and most people today don't even know about them. People today condemn Subash Bose for taking help from Nazis and Japan in WW2 pointing their warcrimes in other regions and saying India might have been their next victim. But what they would have or would have not done is all just Speculation but we know for the fact that Britain was committing same degree of genocidal acts in India and needed to be kicked out.

Shame what China did with 60 million of it's own citizens when Mao was in power.
Hey bud, when was the last time in history China colonized any part of the world and force it's indigenous people to assimilate or get erased from history? It's like the pot calling the kettle, black!

Spare me your sordid "point the finger" tactics. You've got more fingers pointing at you, from the Native Americans, to Mexicans, to Libyans, to Syrians, to all of Africa, to all of Latin America. I suggest you put a sock in it.

The age of the Western Bloc is coming to an end. The world is fed up with your kind's hypocritical bull$hit about freedom, liberty, democracy and what not.

China is our ally, and China has risen to the world stage to challenge the Western Bloc's hegemony. Whichever way you look at it, China is going to stamp it's mark on history. Along with Russia, China has established that the hegemony is not ever going to dominate the world ever again. 500 years of Western bull$hit is enough to last an eternity.

For us Muslims, we stand behind our beloved Prophet Muhammad Alaihi Salaat-u-Wassalam, and stand firm! We recognize the only Christiandom that ought to be recognized as true Christians, the Orthodox Christians. Russia leads the Orthodox Christians and we stand with them.

You take your sorry Western Bloc and shove it where the sun don't shine.

Everything we see comes down to white supremacy. Everything.
