It all depends on how we treat them. Our own chief begs india for peace, so whats wrong when taliban wants good relations? Some ppl might have thought of them as our puppets but afghans are independent and don't like being a puppet. Unlike our so called defenders, who surrender on a phone call or a letter.
From Taliban point of view. If Pakistan can be puppet of the USA then Afghanistan can also make relations with the countries which would benefit them. If India is willing to invest billions in to Afghanistan, train their army, sell weapons, sell wheat etc then why shouldn't Taliban go for it. They are not like Pakistan who refuse to build their side of Iran/Pak gas pipeline which would benefit Pakistan, too scared to attend Malaysian conference due to pressure, allowed killing of their own citizens by usa drone, allowed extremist ideology to spread in Pakistan due to riyals, fake Osama encounter, a huge list of betrayals.
The Taliban on the other hand were offered peace talks by the USA in 2015 but Taliban refused because they wanted foreign powers out of Afghanistan before any talks, they stuck to this demand and said how can we negotiate with occupying powers who are killing our people. Brave and honourable people.
