KABUL : Baghlan provincial police said on Saturday that Taliban insurgents destroyed an electricity pylon in Baghlan province. According to the officials, the destruction of the pylon, which transmits electricity from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, has left much of Kabul without power.

Late Friday night Taliban insurgents detonated explosives close to the pylon in Doshe district of Baghlan, police said. With the destruction of this pylon, electricity has now been cut off in a number of provinces, including the capital Kabul .

Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) officials confirmed to TOLOnews that a pylon, which transmits electricity from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan has been destroyed in Baghlan province and for now Kabul is without imported electricity. Officials said they are trying to fix the problem but their engineers have not yet reached the area.

The Taliban said in a statement that they destroyed the pylon in response to government having cut electricity to some of the areas under their control. This is the second time in a month that insurgents have damaged pylons in Baghlan province. Last month Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) officials in Baghlan province said that unknown men destroyed a key power pylon in Kelagai in the province.

This pylon was blown up following the destruction of two other pylons a week earlier by the Taliban in Kunduz. This pylon also cut off electricity from Tajikistan to Kabul . Insurgents said in a statement that they will cut off all electricity to Kabul unless government distributes electricity to areas in their control.

PUL-I-KHUMRI - Afghan Taliban have conditionally agreed to allowing the repair of a destroyed pylon that carries electricity to central capital Kabul <link> through northern Baghlan province.

Baghlan power utility department on Sunday said electricity supply to Kabul would be restored as tribal elders had reached an agreement with the Taliban in Baghlan over the issue.

Sultan Ahmad Azizi, provincial power utility director, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants destroyed the pylon with a bomb in Doshi district on Friday night.

Incidents occur in Pakistan from time-to-time so it imply that Pakistan Army has failed and/or is failing?

Let us not jump to conclusions over these matters. US is a powerful country but not a God.

Every petty crime in Afghanistan cannot be pinned on the US.

Those incidents in Pakistan don't include "shutting down power supply of federal capital by Taliban".

I can understand you like USA but there is no need to defend everything related to USA everywhere

    Bhai,

Pakistan mein bhee zabardaast or khofnaaq incidents occur hote rehtay hein. Pakistan mein waisey he loadshedding bahaut zaida hai.

Every incident that occur in Afghanistan cannot be pinned on the US forces stationed there. What do you expect from them in a highly tribal and divided society?

Send Pakistan Army there and see what happens.

load shedding is one thing. Shutting down power supply of federal capital by a rebel group is another. You are mixing the two just to defend USA.
