Also how has the army failed to curb militancy? The point of these operations is not just to stop attacks on army or SF personnel. It was to stop attacks om civillians. How many civillians have been martryed in the past week due to terrorist attacks compared to a week in 2009?

Militancy has been pushed to the borders. The army is supposed to take the hits and give out the hits to protect the civillians. Thats war.

Civilians casualties have also decreased due to TTP not chosing to attack civilian targets ANYMORE since Noor Wali Mehsud took the leadership. It has now only chose to target military targets and instalments. If TTP wants, it can do the same wave of terror like it used to do before. But the new leadership fortunately have taken a right step, it makes their popularity increase among masses and gives them much needed legitimacy. We have seen them being committed to that promise as civilian casualty is minimum. They are pretty much following the model of Afghan Taliban now.

Here is another gem of idiocy…..
what do you want him to do grab a gun and run to the front?

what most stupid people don’t understand is that COAS doesn’t make policies …. He merely gives the go ahead ….

field commanders have the most input but again what can we do in face of uneducated masses
This COAS is like you...doesn't do anything and meanwhile men are dying. Re get a gun and go to the front...yes he should so he can bring drones for the men.

So stop you village waffling and pretending to be an armchair expert

If they start doing civilian casualties then that would increase political capital among public for army to do a big operation. They don't want that happening either.

Today 4 civilians died in Quetta blast. Their ability to do attacks in major urban centres has diminished due previous military operations.

Its very hard for the military to stop small sleeper cells. However there must be intell to go after these bastards. When we hurt we must give them unimaginable pain.

This is why you don't negotiate with terrorists.

There is no reason to attack the state and if there is consider yourself an enemy of the state. There is no middle ground.

Turkey does drones, proven too, buy some and fly them day and night monitor areas where there’s terror activities. flying armed drone near a patrol on foot can be sent to help.

We can always do better no doubt. We can always equip them better … absolutely.
But no army can ever win a guerrilla war no matter how much fire power, equipment and resources they get. At the end of the day we have to accept humble pie and sit down and negotiate ….

did USA/NATO win in Afghanistan?
Saudis in Yemen ?
Israelis in Gaza?
Americans in Vietnam?

No standing army have ever won a single gurilla war ….. name one power that ever did.
It is flat out retardant behaviour to blame the generals when I am sure they don’t want to see their soldiers die needlessly.

you harping 24/7 against the entire leadership of our army plays right in the hands of anti Pakistan narrative.

As they say for every attack that is successful there are 10 they managed to spoil.
unfortynately given the terrain, politics, culture and poverty there is no solution in sight anytime soon.
I am Not discussing or judging on this subject, but man keep your logic straight.
US Nato, Saudi, Israel all fought on foreign soil against locals of another country.
This is Pakistani Land with Pakistan army doing operation against insurgents in its own legal territory. What is there to compare?.
Comparison should be like Sri Lankan army against Tamils or Chinese PLA in Xinjiang or Indian Army in Indian Punjab or Turkish army Against Kurdish Militants. And all of them more or less defeated the insurgencies or neutralized them.
Dynamics , Intensity , Objectives , Strategy and progresd of this war is a different subject though. But Gorilla wars are won and Insurgencies are neutralized around the world successfully.

You guys simply lack the ability to accept ground realities. You just want to continue with the same old BS of martyrdom to hide incompetency of Pakistani state and its institutions in winning wars decisively against these insurgencies. Pakistani military counter insurgency abilities have a big question mark over them when they have failed to defeat TTP or BLA even after years of fighting and deaths of thousands of Pakistani soldiers

Both BLA and TTP are thriving right now inflicting casualties daily with no end in sight. And after that you don't want to have dialogue with them because your monkey as$ ego can't accept hard facts

There is clearly issues with Pakistani counter insurgency policy that needs to be rectified instead of giving lame excuses like you have given

That is exactly the issue. Till when we would continue to bleed in this nonsensical war? America has left the region. Ashraf Ghani is gone but nothing much has changed for Pakistan as far its war against militancy is concerned

Some serious debate needs to be done on this issue but Pakistani state is more interested in sending free wheat to Afghanistan while wheat prices continue to rise in Pakistan for Pakistanis
Pakistani leaders both civilian and militery enjoy assisting other nations while dragging their own people through the dirt and kicked by the world.
