When China and India has border dispute before 1962, Soviet stand on India side. I remembered Chairman Mao talked with Soviet, telling them "Indian never had a revolution, it's capitalism. The old social structure is there, the elites are still there as how they rule in the old days".

The Soviet is obsessed over India and split with Mao finally.

Mao sent his closest comrade, prime minister 周恩来 Zhou Enlai to Moscow when Khrushchev was arrested by Brezhnev, try to fix the ties.

But you know what? The Russian general asked if we can remove Chairman Mao just like what Russian did to Khrushchev. Of course Chinese left Moscow and remembered the humiliation.

Imo. To understand Khrushchev policy, we have to dig deeper into the internal political fights between Soviet elites. Without understanding the relationship and how those elites kill each other politically or physically, we will be confused.

Stalin left no anointed successor nor a framework within which a transfer of power could take place.

Khrushchev become First Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union is an accident of Soviet.

The fight among Soviet elites, such as Malenkov, Beria, Khruschev, Vyacheslav Molotov, Kliment Voroshilov, Nikolai Bulganin, Lazar Kaganovich and Anastas Mikoyan is as good as HBO drama.

Khruschev allied with Malenkov, and pretended to be ally of Beria, he helped Malenkov to arrest Beria. After that Zhukov played a key role to help Khruschev win the battle.

The elites of Soviet sought support among Republics of the Soviet Union and other communist countries, and the latter get more freedom.

After the secret speech - "On the Cult of Personality and Its Consequences", the moral high ground lost as well.

US political system is bad on power transfer, but it worked better than Soviet because of the huge external pressure.

When Soviet collapsed, internal pressure emerged and dominated US political arena.

The US elites were busy on sharing the cake in past 3 decades, the corruption is out of control.

Put the right man on the right position is key to maintain a healthy political system.

Every political system will decay be default like a house will wear and tear. The myth that western democracy can autodrive is nothing but a propaganda.

On January 17, 1961, Eisenhower gave his final televised Address to the Nation from the Oval Office. In his farewell speech, Eisenhower raised the issue of the Cold War and role of the U.S. armed forces. He described the Cold War: "We face a hostile ideology global in scope, atheistic in character, ruthless in purpose and insidious in method ..."

Eisenhower warned about what he saw as unjustified government spending proposals and continued with a warning that "we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military–industrial complex."
