Hi Mr Zhao, I am really impressed about your knowledge when you discussed with my countrymen (Vietnamese) and others. Your opinion is good for many controversial conservation which is not true or wrong exactly. I hope you do not mind some Vietnamese like Viva_Viet or Cochine who enjoy insulting others with nonsense talk but do not criticize your main point. So, keep your effort and contribution for the civilized forum.

@zull Thank you. I don't mind. I am getting along with many Vietnamese friends very well here in US. I respect Vietnam as a whole, but politics is politics. I strongly believe Vietnam and China will be good ally in the long run once we resolved the dispute politically.
The history is past, worth analyzing, but we have to move forward, that's the only way to benefit both sides.
Culturally, Vietnamese and Chinese are closest, political system is almost the same. We are damn the same by looking as well.
I believe we can have an union like EU many years later, and safety treaty signed, we will see.

@viva_zhao Insulting is easy but analyzing is harder. Vietnamese in this forum usually spread the nationalist on their comments so this is not fair for history or economic discussion. I had to admit that. I also have the good relationship with Chinese. Some Chinese in my province here and I see them friendly. My government applied the “3 things not to do” policy including do not take part in military alliance to keep the conflict in South China Sea with China less serious. This shows the diplomacy between China and Vietnam is so important and China is still the big partner with Vietnam. To be honest, my government officers usually have many visits to China through years to improve our relationship. This is contradict with those Vietnamese’s belief here.

@viva_zhao I know my countrymen usually mock your country with baseless things and weak arguments first. Does it make you angry? If yes, I feel sorry and please to keep your head cool. You should point out the fact and criticize their main point. I think their main points are too weak because it does not logical. I don’t know but in Vietnam weak argument will be pointed clearly to make their mouth shut up and it will lead to be far the true discussion when they just reply by cursing or insulting you. But in some foreign forums, the weak point will be ignored when they see their opponents are not open minded. I see it good to not waste time with this kind of people.

@zull no worries. we are good. There are 95 millions Vietnamese, I won't take them seriously, they can stand for themselves, I stand for myself, that's it.
      Have fun here.

@viva_zhao yes, btw some Vietnamese in FB said they’re rude to you because Chinese is at the higher level of insulting to Vietnam through Tieba or something like that. Can you tell me that right because I am doubt about that.

@viva_zhao I am just curious. I want to hear every opinion from others to have an overall conclusion for my belief. So I really want to hear your opinion.

@zull Two narratives. In Chinese point of view, Chinese help Vietnam to get rid of US colonization.
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China_in_the_Vietnam_War#The_end_of_China’s_assistance
China has no obligation to help, we can help, and we can stop assistance anytime.
In Vietnamese point of view, you are taught different narrative in history book.

China feels betrayed by Vietnam that you side with our rival-USSR. China did NOT want any foreign great power close to herself.
      1, The THE SOVIET-VIETNAMESE TREATY, https://larouchepub.com/eiw/public/...5n48-19781212_032-the_ussr_vietnam_treaty.pdf
2, Cam Ranh Bay for USSR
      3, Conquer of Cambodia.

Above 3 is big enough to trigger China hostility. Just think about Cuban Missile Crisis, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuban_Missile_Crisis
What's Americans reaction? Not hard to imagine the Chinese reaction.

Some of my countrymen believe that China helped Vietnam just like helping to North Korea because of China’s interests. But I read some news that China decided to help North Korea because of the USA’s threat to its sovereignty. It’s not like Vietnam when China helped our country at the beginning of war. Some information from our books describe you evil and ignore your help. But at least, there are some modern Vietnamese still have a fair look on China.
    • viva_zhao
@zull Imo, it doesn't matter that much why we helped. The help itself is meaningful or not matters the most.

You are grateful to your parents, although they have obligation to raise you.
You are also grateful to your friends who helped you although they have NO obligation to help you.
China helped Vietnam, which is a fact. I think the fact itself is strong enough to challenge opposite opinions in future, and can withstand questions in history.
The problem is, Vietnam side with USSR, which is biggest threat of China. Then Vietnam should NOT expect no reaction from China.
Le Duan prepared the war from China side before 1979, which proved he knew what's coming when he side with USSR.
      It's logical.
      zull thanked this.
