I heard this news on ARy a couple of days ago...but dosen't know about the real facts. How did it ended? did the Police arrested anyone? as they claimed the race was a pirate race.

Don't know how the hell he crashed the car!!!

Not the drivers fault..
This was a high performance car.. a machine.. there is a high chance of accidents.
The fault lies with the organizers.. they did not provide the safety.
No high barriers..
also..
there is a large trench between the road and the side..
the Security was constantly insisting that people move back..
Pakistani's dont listen..well...enjoy then..

The driver's escape was from the mob mentality..
rich or not..this is not his fault..
If these same people were killed on the road in a car accident.. due to ignorance of safety.. o hue or cry would be raised.

Another angle

The driver is clearly out and not dead, news channel misreported it.

Any way i see its an organized event, so the blame do come on the organizers, not the driver.

My cousin's friend died in this. He was one of the people to get run over.

At those speeds, even a pebble on the road can potentially be dangerous. The driver lost control of the car.

If this race was illegal, then everyone involved should be punished. If, however, the race was legally organized (which seems to be the case), then you can't punish the driver. You must catch the organizers for not providing adequate safety. At the end of the day, however, it was the spectators' own fault.

The problem is not with the barriers. You could have had a steel cage and the car would have bent that too. The problem was with the spectators' location. You can't allow them to be so close to the road. Many people have died watching rally races because the cars spin slightly out of control.

I am really confused, were the father and son driving that car or were spectators???(i didn't watch this video because of my some back memories so that's why asking)

According to Media reports the car was illegally modified to go fast. I am not cars expert but thats what i heard, and if true then the driver must be punished.
Also, correct me if i am wrong... According to roads regulations if a driver is to hit any pedestrians under any circumstances the driver is held responsible. Another point, this race was not approved by authorities and nether any safety precautions were implemented. I believe since the drivers were most probably involved in organization of this even they should have thought of these safety.

well I think its just an accident and even if the driver is alive - he will/should not face any punishment as long as he did not do it deliberately

in UK... if a person is dead in car accident.. usually the driver is released without any charges. Of course it depends upon the nature of accidents but as long as it is not your fault you don't have to worry

here in this case I noticed the barriers were there but the car was so fast that it hit the barriers, broken and then hit the unfortunately peoples who got killed

I did not understand why these peoples were so close to the barriers in first place... they should be watching the car race from far outside... not near the barriers

Two fathers and their children were killed instantly, another person was also killed in the accident. Only spectators died that day. Driver survived.

First of all it was not the drivers fault, he was just driving in a dangerous sport where accidents are bound to happen.

The event was illegal, because the organizers were denied the permission from the government to hold this event.

The accident happened on the right side of the road, only the left side was available for the spectators, the right side was off limits.

The people that did go to the right side after many warnings were asked to stay behind the ditch. There were 5 deaths, 2 fathers and their son, and another death (son of a retired major). It was bound to happen, let this be a lesson for the public to follow the rules, there was no reason for crossing the ditch, especially with a small kids.

may the departed rest in peace.

1. THere are no illegal modifications..
Pakistan law does not cover car engine mods, suspension etc.. only tinted glass.

2. The toyota supra is a high end performance car.. and is popular on many racing teams and tracks... the car in question was not the ultimate modification of the car.

3. There have been even more horrible crashes involving car such as the Lamborghini Gallardo.. these were built for that level.. and still incidents happen.

It was the fault of the organizers..and Pakistani mentality to break the rules for that extra thrill..
they paid with their lives.

Because it is a Legally organised affair the onus of Health and Safety and welfare of audience lies on the Organisers not the driver, had this been an illegal race the kind that happen in Bahria Town and Islamabad most of the time the driver would have been booked for manslaughter.

Also i think that a track should be built. If Pakistan's have this mad need for speed (tm) xD then allow them to expend it in a safe and secure, professionally developed environment.

I just noticed one main fking thing. Their was no barrier! just advertisement banner!!! watch carefully how the banner collapses!

Again.. This race was no level of professional international standard like American Drag Racing where separate team is required for specific tasks so its most likely that the drivers them self were involved in the organization of this race and totally overlooked the safety aspect.

They all should be arrested for holding such a event without any safety.
