i think corp commander rawalpindi tariq majeed and DG ISI ashfaq kayani will be new VCOAS and CJCS

The article says Nadeem Taj was made DG ISI.

As I understand these are very much the like minded individuals for the President. It's also significant since he's indicating that he's sticking to his promise. Also a few names in there were instrumental in the President's coup in 1999 and were the actual people that took over while he was still in the air.

Nadeem Taj and the Khattack twins (who are not actujally even related, but their last names and career profiles are similar) who will be promoted next year will be the men inline next time.

What happened to the two Generals we heard on tape during the coup who helped Gen. Musharraf to take over the country ? Also what happened to the General who was named as Musharraf's successor by Nawaz Sharif when he sacked Gen. M

Regards

The guy who helped Mush , Gen Mehmood , was dumped by Musharraf since he deemed his too
ambitious. Gen Mehmood has on record said he wish he hadn't helped this idiot

Promotion of Nadeem Taj is yet another proof of the Karachi-net at work

This is a disgraceful officer , weak in command , who did not deserve to go past the rank of a Brig let olone be posted as head of ISI

Mush is promoting weak and 'chamcha' type officers so they dont challenge his rule
at the cost of making Pakistan Army extremly un professional

The Guy who is the current vice chief , Gen Ahsan Saleem Hayat ( also from Karachi ) is another such example of promoting weak officers. This guys ACR said that he was not fit for command and today he is Vice Chief

I can say alot more but that will be deemed 'racist against fellow Pakistanis'

The sooner we get rid of Musharraf the better it will be for Pakistan and most importantly
for Pakistan Army , this hidustani is wrecking Pakistan

BANNED FOR REPEATED RACIST REMARKS AND RACIAL SLURS

Why blame India for these promotions ? The General is ex SSG he can't be bad. No one who goes through the grind of the SF training will put himself above his country's best future. You seem to be from the forces as you talk of ACR's etc. Anyway everyone is entitled to his opinion. I googled and saw the other Generals were

Army Chief for two hours - Gen Zia Uddin

The Generals who helped him were General Aziz and Lt General Usmani and Lt General Mahmood as you rightly said.

I wonder what happened to the other 3.

Regards

Muhammad Aziz Khan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

General Muhammad Aziz Khan (born March 1, 1946) is a retired Pakistani general who served as the chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Pakistan from October 2001 till October 2004.[1]. He was instrumental in bringing General Pervez Musharraf to power in the 1999 coup d'etat that overthrew the democratically elected government of Nawaz Sharif, along with other army generals including Lieutenant General Mahmoud Ahmad and Lieutenant General Muzaffar Usmani.

General Aziz, like other senior officers of the Pakistan Military, is a multi millionaire, his wealth is derived from the hundreds of acres of land given to him for supporting the military. He owns large mansions in Palandri, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi. In Rawalpidi, General Aziz lives next to General Mushrarraf's government house.washingtonpost

General Aziz is member of the Sudhan tribe of Kashmir and has considerable influence with Islamic fundamentalists in Pakistan and is suspected of being the go between the Army and the Islamic fundamentalists.

During the government of Nawaz Sharif, General Aziz was deputy director of Inter Services Intelligence, where he was answerable only to General Musharraf, thereby bypassing the Director General ISI Lieutenant General Khwaja Ziauddin, appointed by Nawaz Sharif.

During the Kargil War, General Aziz Khan was assistant to General Pervez Musharraf. Secret recordings of conversations between General Musharraf and General Aziz were intercepted by the Indian intelligence during the Kargil Campaign. Said recordings proved that Pakistan Army had secretly invaded Kashmir.[2]

He was later promoted to chief of general staff (CGS), from where he fomented the coup d'etat against the democratically elected government of Nawaz Sharif along with other generals. After Musharraf came to power in October 1999, General Aziz was transferred as Corps Commander Lahore. He served as the commander of Lahore Corps till October 2001.

After the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the subsequent US invasion of Afghanistan, General Aziz Khan was transferred to the ceremonial post of chairmanship of Joints Chiefs of Staff. He was retired from active duty in 2004, and was replaced by General Ehsan ul Haq as the CJCSC

Mahmoud Ahmad - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lieutenant General Mahmoud Ahmad is a former head of Inter-Services Intelligence, the principal intelligence body of Pakistan. He along with other generals were successful in overthrowing the elected government of Nawaz Sharif, in the 1999 coup d'etat to bring General Pervez Musharraf to power. He was serving as the Corps Commander Rawalpindi at that time. After the coup, General Mahmoud was transferred as the Director General ISI, replacing Lieutenant General Khwaja Ziauddin, who was Sharif's choice to replace General Musharraf as the army chief before the coup.

General Mahmoud was known to visit the United States regularly during his time as the head of ISI consulting senior officials in the U.S. administration in the weeks before and after 9/11. In fact, he was with Republican Congressman Porter Goss and Democratic Senator Bob Graham in Washington, discussing Osama bin Laden over breakfast, when the attacks of September 11, 2001 happened. He was immediately called into meetings with American officials where demands of Pakistani cooperation were made and he was told to convey this to the Pakistani government.

In early October 2001, Indian intelligence alleged that Mahmoud had ordered Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh — the convicted mastermind of the kidnapping and killing of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl — to wire US$100,000 from Dubai to one of 9/11 hijacker Mohamed Atta's two bank accounts in Florida.

General Mahmoud Ahmad opposed the US invasion of Afghanistan, arguing that the Taliban, for all its faults was still better for Pakistan. He was retired from his role in the ISI on 8 October 2001, just prior to the US invasion of Afghanistan. He was replaced by Lieutenant General Ehsan ul Haq as the Director General ISI.

Muzaffar Usmani - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lieutenant General Muzaffar Usmani is a retired Pakistani general who was the Corps Commander Karachi at the time of 1999 coup, which brought General Pervez Musharraf to power. He along with other senior generals including Lieutenant General Muhammad Aziz Khan and Lieutenant General Mahmoud Ahmad refused to accept Nawaz Sharif's appointment, Lieutenant General Khwaja Ziauddin, the then director general Inter-Services Intelligence to replace General Pervez Musharraf as the army chief. After the successful coup, General Usmani was made the deputy chief of the army staff, a post he held till October 2001. On the onslaught of US Invasion of Afghanistan, General Usmani was replaced by General Mohammad Yousaf, who was made the new vice chief (a new post, which replaced the deputy chief) and given the rank of 4-star general. Lieutenant General Muzaffar Usmani retired from Pakistan Army in 2001.
