present situation of local government in Karachi:

lack of funds and corrupt administration, transfers and postings

there is no local government in Kaachi since 2010, the local government was dissolved and the powers were transferred to the karachi metropolitan corporation. the administrator and the commissioner were appointed by the sindh government since then, the appointees were selected based on the commission they paid for their appointment in lacs. Karachi local body already doesn't receive enough funds to deliver basic services like garbage collection, sanitation, the appointed commissioners and administrators eat the remaining funds to overcome the money they spent in their appointment and eat more to make profit of their 'investment'. the commissioners and administrators keep changing and each of them don't last more than couple of months. now there are appoints on deputy commissioner, municipal commissioner who don't last more than few weaks. karachi local bodies is suffering because of lack of funds and corrupt administrators.

incompetent administration:

the KMC generates its funds through taxes it levies on commercial properties. but due to incompetent and corrupt administration the KMC couldn't collect taxes to generate its own funds

lack of staff:

before the local government was dissolved to run the system based on appointed administrators, the karachi local government had a staff of about 2000 - 3000, which was subdivided into nazims, naib nazims, town nazims, counsellor, US etc etc, after devolution of local government, the system is now run by 6-10 people, the karachi has an administrator which is further divided into 6 district administrators and has a commissioner and thats it all controlled directly by the chief minister sindh. the staff doesn't even belong to the city but interior sindh, how can a guy from jacobabad or khairpur address the big city karachi is?

the karachi local government during PPP's era from 2008 till 2010 wasn't getting enough funds, but because it had a mayor and a elected system, the government was competent and karachiites were receiving the services they deserved but just after the completion of the tenure in 2010, the sindh govt dissolved the government and imposed governor rule over local government

illegal appoints at water board and KMC:

the appointment in KWSB and KMC are being made on parchi and sifarish bases and most of the staff of KMC and KWSB are not even karachiites

conclusion:

karachi will become worse as the problems are not addressed, heaps of garbage will start littering on the streets like it was the case before 2002 local government, and karachi will become a village with little to no facilities, karachi needs local government to address the issues of the city, it needs its representatives at the local level

How can Karachittes enjoy rain, when there is no electricity,no water, roads r over flowing with dirty water, electric live wires snapping??
Rain is always a blessing but in ‪#‎Karachi‬ it brings difficulties due 2water puddles, heaps of garbage clogged in the drainage system, overFlow
The only solution is the local government,Which is a must for a metropolitan city and why the govt is resisting ,we all know,it's sad and disappointing to see people of Karachi Suffer due to this attitude of PPP
We should know that more than half the world’s people live in cities. Over 90 percent of urban growth is occurring in the developing world, adding an estimated 70 million new residents to urban areas each year. During the next two decades, the urban population of the world’s two poorest regions—South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa—is expected to double.
Karachi being one of the major urban city in the world.
Successful cities change their ways, improve their finances, attract private investors, and take care of the poor. The Urban and Local Government Strategy helps governments at all levels make cities more equitable, efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly. The strategy draws on two principles. First, that density, agglomeration, and proximity are fundamental to human advancement, economic productivity, and social equity. Second, that cities need to be well managed and sustainable.
We must advocate and it's our right to have a local Government system
