WEAPONIZING HAL BUILT HAWK AJT

The HAL Built HAWK shown with Dummy bomb carrier

The Indian Air force currently operates some 90 HAWK advanced Jet Trainer. Nearly 75 of them will be built by Indian Firm HAL with the license production from BAE systems. the BAE system is the manufacturer of these Advanced Jet Trainer, In the Indian Airforce the trainee pilots final Trainer Aircraft is the HAWK before going to sit in the Mig 29, Su 30 or any kind of Front line combat Aircraft. A recent report from HAL quotes " we absorb the entire technical Parameters of Hawk and we are ready to build in India without the Help from BAE" It's the BAE allows the HAL to Build the Planes in India. As of now nearly 90 HAWK is in IAF inventory for training purpose, and 17 other HAWK under control of Indian Navy.

Most of the countries uses the AJT as their ground attack, Recon and CAS role, by Example of Russian YAK 130, Czech L 30 , Dassault Alpha, even this January CHAD uses the French built Dassault Alpha to pound the Boko Haram terrorists and scored 100 kills. most of the OEM ( original Equipment Manufacture) didn't allow the users to modify the Trainer Aircraft. and HAWK is a Very good platform if they are armed with Air to Air and Air to Ground missiles. the British version of HAWK T1A having Sidewinder Air to Air missiles and a internal gun, but they never used in combat, it's better arm your Entire flying wings.

HAL built HAWK in flying

The sub conventional war in coming days requires a decent Light Attack CAS fighter to give support to the friendly air force in Friendly territory. by simple Ukaraine is the good example they using the Su 25 and Mi 35 to hunt the Rebels. but the Rebels obtained decent air superiority with the Help of MANPAD and AAA, Ukraine need a very good Light Attack Aircraft to deal with this, they can use their MiG 29 or Su 27 but if they too destroyed then their Capital have no flying wings to protect it. This need for Arming the AJT.

The Indian Air force also studying the future conflict and increase activities of Border violations and internal armed wings threat such as Bodo and Maoists. The para military or the deployed Army units too need an good Light Attack aircraft. the IAF initially have a plan to buy a COIN ( counter intelligence ) Aircraft to dealt with such threats. but they found The HAWK is the best option if British allows us to Arm their Trainers, The IAF send a query to HAL about the Plan, the HAL also knows about the Light Attack platforms, they too send formal letters to BAE to arm the HAWK, this was unveiled in the Aero India 2015, HAL expects the BAE should wave the Green flag.

HAWK armed with two Sidewinder and a Anti ship Training Missile
The HAL have the opportunity to build number of HAWKs for Indian Armed forces, So they planned to arm newly built HAWK if BAE accepts it. Arming a Trainer is a too hard stuff for that you need to re engineer it's Cockpit for Missile Control assembly and Missile Integrating stations. But HAL is the masters in Aor craft building so they don't have more barriers in this project.

The Initial plan is arming the HAWK with a internal 30mm cannon, ASRAAM air to Air Missiles, Rack of smart bombs and Litening Pod for Navigation and Target identification, If BAE agrees the IAF Hawk comes with a Internal 30 mm cannon two ASRAAM and 4 PGM/LGB with the combat radius of 500 kilometers and 40,000 feet of flying Altitude is the best option for CAS and Armed recon Missions.

Let's hope they are able to modify these at home

Under the Modi Govt. I sincerely hope that HAL-AJT 39 project is revived

brimestone and small diameter bomb would give more bang for buck.

think if modified could carry 12 brimestone or 9 small diameter bomb.
