Ukraine seizes missile components destined for Iran

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (DPSU) announced on 20 January that it had found missile system components on an aircraft that was about to leave Kiev's Zulyany airport for Iran.

The DPSU said that, during an inspection of the aircraft on 19 January, its personnel had found 17 boxes with no accompanying documents, which the aircraft's crew said contained an aircraft repair kit. Three boxes contained components that were believed to be for a Fagot anti-tank guided missile system, the rest contained aircraft parts.

The DPSU released a second statement the following day saying that experts had confirmed that the components were from a Fagot system.

The only advantage I can see there is that it would mean it wouldn't have Iranian markings, but I don't think that makes a difference with how Iran's role in Yemen is viewed.

So the notion that Iran is in need of 70's era Russian ATGM's is absurd! Iran wouldn't even pay them $100 for the entire BOX!

SO WHY the hell would Iran EVER go to the trouble of getting a box of used 70's era FAGOTS??? Some Ukrainians clearly wanted to make news for themselves to try to make themselves shine for the new U.S. president!

Fact is NO ONE in Iran would have EVER paid for them! Iran exports ATGM's and ANY country that wants it can go order them from Iran & they can order as many as they want!

This is noting but a bunch of Ukrainians trying to make news for themselves & they clearly picked a wrong weapon system to do so because the CIA will clearly explain to the U.S. president that this is NOTHING more than a trumped up story cooked up by the pro western Ukrainians meant to create favor with the new U.S. administration!

And maybe that was the point! Pro West Ukrainians clearly fear lose of favor with the new administrations stance on Russia & they may have wanted to make a point that they are very much needed or else Iran would be getting weapons from Ukraine that it actually does need!
