ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia’s Minister on Religious Affairs Sheikh Saleh bin Abdul Aziz has said that those talking about mediation in Yemen conflict are not ‘right’ and should review their statements.

Speaking in an exclusive interview that will be aired on Wednesday evening on Geo News, he expressed his desire that Pakistani government would join hands with the coalition of Islamic countries and send its troops to fight against Houthi rebels in Yemen.

The Saudi minister claimed that Houthi rebels were inflicting atrocities by carrying weapons, adding that his country decided about attacking them resultantly.

Lashing out Iran, he said the country was doing same in Yemen what it did in Syria and Iraq in the past. He vowed to stop this ‘intrusion’ by Iran at all costs.

“Iran spread an atmosphere of lawlessness and instability in these countries and for that it will have to be accounted for,” he said.

Sheikh Saleh further said that Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries have serious reservations over recently inked nuclear pact between Iran and the West.

So Pakistan must be hostile to its neighbor because doing otherwise "is not right"

Where did this moron of foreign affairs get his degree from?

KSA needs to understand that Pakistan is not in the middle east, it has to maintain peaceful ties with its neighbors. There is nothing wrong in wanting to do that. Why can't Pakistan remain neutral and have trade and good relations with both Iran and KSA?

Nobody is saying Pakistan will stab KSA in the back, assurances have already been given to protect Saudi sovereignty. That is as much as an ally can give.

These guys really do need to take a lesson in geopolitics.

So it has to do more with Iran rather than the Houtis .

What a stupid statement, they should have given it a try . Indirectly saying Pakistan is making a mistake .

They actually did try to negotiate but the houthis kept stalling for around 2 months and kept on taking up more ground while negotiating at the same time. I agree that now the time for mediation through peaceful means is over. The offensive has begun and it remains the only way to force them to retreat back to the negotiating table.

Well, he has been sent by Saudis to lobby Pakistan and probably has brought in with himself briefcases full of dollars to buy influential people specially of religious flavor. This is his job. He is trying to shut up the opponents of Saudi operation and those calling for peace.

Keep on dreaming. There is not even one single instance in modern military history wherein a conventional force having been able to defeat an armed insurgency on a foreign land. Not even one. Saudis will lose. Then they will have to negotiate peace with Houthis. The angry Houthis. All these airstrikes have done is to stoke up the patriotic sentiments of Yemenis. No one likes his country to be bombed by foreigners. Whether they be Yemenis or Pakistanis.

All male descendenst of Ibn Saud who are billionaire princes should first go personally and fight a war with Houthis. Pakistan will defend Saudi Arabia but will not invade another country or fight a civil war in Yemen. The Saudi bankrolled Iraq's invasion of Iran that killed million people and destroyed their economies. Saudis are bank rolling one side in Syria and Iraq civil war. Now they want Pakistan to fight in civil war in Yemen !

If Hadi is elected through ballot , then why not even single protest in Yemen in his favor. Except few pockets in Aden. And its strange so called elected President Hadi allow Arabs to bomb his country. So, in other words he wants to see death of anyone who against him. Hadi, just like Saleh most corrupt govt in Yemen.

mediation was tried for 2 years, in that time houthis took over dammaj amran and many other towns.

until they took sanaa. more mediations means houthis takes over the entire country.

now is the time for dropping bombs. when houthis wake up from their dreams of ruling over all of yemen and pull back to their caves in the north then the bombs would stop

Ignoring Mecca & media for a moment why even defend Saudi Arabia ?

He is not a foreign affairs guy. He is the religious minister of Saudi Arabia currently on a special mission to Pakistan.

Did you watch the interview?

or did you follow meeting between Shahbaz Sharif and Muqrin?

Just curious.

I watched the interview. The guy (regardless being one type of minister or the other), made sense.

He was articulate, and very humble in his opinion. Proved to be a very good ambassador for his country.

peace

No, I did not.

your response kind of showed that. you did not know which subject / thread you are posting to.

I have great respect for you Danesh.

Do remember, a true "Danesh-mand" would thoroughly study the topic before posting.

Thank you. But I would say, it is a rush judgement, on your part about my "ignorance".

I would rather trust, the analytic skills of Pakistani strategists who said No, to Saudis.

They have all the intel and information in this regard. They know where Saudis are leading.

In fact, to tell you frankly, I believe Pakistani strategists even have a Plan B for Saudis Arabia (in case of fall of Saudi royal family). After all it is natural for strategists to have contingency plans.

As for the good will of this minister, suffice to say, it is his official ideology with which Pakistan Army is at war.

Did he meet any Pakistani military official on his visit? Now that is an important question you have to ask and wonder what they talked about.
