Surface To Air Missiles operated by Pakistan

comparable to the hq-9 like what? not the hq-2
I am not comparing it but what best available or we can afford we have it also depends upon threat perception. Our main enemy is India and we have systems in place in respect to Indian threats and at any condition we can shoot down any intruder from our neighboring country.

I think HQ 9 in current form is weak because its range is 200 km not good enough atleast 350 km range and can hit target well beyond 5000 feet if you compare ranges of hq 9 and S 300 there is a difference
you make it sound so simple
extending the range by 175% as if its like extending your front porch.
yes .. it has less range and ceiling than other surface to air missile systems but so what? if the missile successfully covers and protects its designated area with deadly accuracy and can be deployed and armed in very short time then the job is done. 200 km is not that small as you believe.

In my service life HQ-9 was not inducted. We have other systems.
no matter how much probed or encouraged, we must restrain ourselves from sharing specific information

would that include an mk2 at 60000ft at mach 2?

Dear I think you don't do any homework before you talk

If IAF jets fly over the range of HQ 9 what will you

Do give you example in kargil war our PAF caught nagging neither with potent long range SAM nor with potent jet which can take on long range missions with better radars to detect beyond enemy range

India played well with mirage 2000 less better than F 16 But still they won due to our pathetic planning and thinking which was just you saying to repeat

If we had S 300 class of SAM at that time Mirages never think of flying over tiger mountains and bombers our Jawans

Another pathetic example of PAF in kargil war IAF jets destroyed our Atlantique in our waters but neither we have radars or Sam to shoot them down

We need radars which can cover IAF 24/7
I know AWACS do it but they don't fly frequently we need land based radar chain now with Afghanistan showing intent of india we need long range long capacity system to keep watch over their activities 24/7

Sam Which have at least 350km range and 5000 to 10000 feet of hitting range with it we need medium and low range patsir system

PAKISTAN’S HQ-16 SURFACE-TO-AIR MISSILE PLANS
In its most recent annual publication, the Pakistan Ministry of Defence Production (MoDP) disclosed that the armed forces had procured six LY-80 (i.e. HQ-16) surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems from China for $373 million U.S. in fiscal year 2014-2015.

This acquisition appears to be a follow-on from the armed forces’ initial HQ-16 order, which took place in 2013-2014 (for three HQ-16 SAM systems for $226 million and eight IBIS-150 radars for $40 million).

Produced by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp (CASC), the HQ-16 (export designation: LY-80) is a medium-range SAM system with a maximum intercept range of 40km (Army Recognition).

Each HQ-16 system is reportedly comprised of a command and control vehicle, tracking and guidance radar vehicle, target search radar vehicle, and missile launchers.

The HQ-16 missile itself carries a 70kg warhead and is guided by a semi-active radar-homing (SARH) seeker (which will work in conjunction with the SAM system’s tracking and guidance radar). The missile is also used as a vertically-launched naval SAM in the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN).

Comment and Analysis

It is not clear how many launchers are included within each HQ-16 system. Numerous web sources have suggested that each HQ-16 battery comprises of four launchers (as shown on an illustration provided by Army Recognition), but no official information on this issue is readily available.

If the number of IBIS-150 radars (maximum range: 130km) is an indication of the number of batteries ordered by Pakistan, then a total of nine batteries (or systems) are in the procurement pipeline. Based on this information, the HQ-16 is on-track to forming the medium-range layer of Pakistan’s land-based integrated air defence system (IADS).

It is worth noting that the above mentioned information is based on the activities of fiscal year 2014-2015, and not the current year. This is an important consideration because another air defence system deal was reportedly on the table in May 2016. Specifics were not given, but it would be safe to assume that this new contract would involve the HQ-16 and/or short-range HQ-7 (in use by the Pakistan Army), though one could speculate that this new deal is in reference to the HQ-9 long-range SAM system.

Its important we keep building on our defences, I think its guaranteed that we will go for long range sams but at the moment are increasing our medium level protection

Once we have reasonable numbers in place it would be good if a informed member could state the ramifications for the indian military and especially airforce

Air Defense, Army or Air Force will have ownership? Who will have ownership of LY-80 ?

U know so much secret info than please enlighten us about new aesa based ground radars inducted in PA /PAF to detect stealth targets as even if we consider ur points these SAMS are useless without credible Radars.
Erieye and ZDK-03 AWACS use AESA radar. Its just about networking with different platforms.

VERA would have been an excellent induction.

Please also provide details how much Pak has improved it's Air defenses since Usama fiasco so no more stealth helllis our jets may not enter Pak air space. As per one version even US forces Jammed Pak Radars when they raided the compound.
This was political unfortunately and one of the reasons of my dismay in PA/PAF. You can read news about it online too.

it is said that PA and PAF both knew about the raid.
PAF switched off its radars.
Regarding PA, Several residents said that two hours before the United States launched its attack, PA personnel ordered them to switch off their lights inside and outside their homes and remain indoors until further notice.“The army personnel cordoned off the entire area long before we heard the sounds of helicopters hovering over the area,” said Zulfikar Ahmed, who lives in the Abbottabad neighborhood of Bilal Town, where bin Laden’s compound is located.
