However, the deaths are still being deemed “suspected suicides,” as investigations are still ongoing, Haaretz reported.

All of those who committed suicide were male. Twelve were conscripts, two were career soldiers, and one was a reservist.

The number of suicide victims last year was the same as in 2015, when suicide was also the leading cause of death among soldiers. Fifteen also lost their lives to suicide in 2014, though it was not the leading cause of death that year.

The official noted that “weak” populations, such as new immigrants, were not over-represented among those who committed suicide – a change from previous years. In 2015, three soldiers of Ethiopian origin took their own lives.

Though the army has loosened a rule that had prohibited soldiers from taking weapons home on extended leave, the official noted that the army is still “strict on who takes home a weapon. It isn’t whoever wants one.”

Commenting on the suicide deaths, an army officer told Haaretz that officials “can’t know about every case in advance, but we are doing a lot to deal with the issue.”

He went on to say that soldiers are more vulnerable to depression during the holidays, and so commanders are asked to verify their soldiers’ whereabouts at that time, especially those who are known to be experiencing emotional difficulties. New officers are also reportedly being trained on how to identify mental distress.

In addition to the alleged suicides, four soldiers were killed in operations, nine in on-base accidents, seven in car crashes, and six of illness or other medical reasons in 2016. Another 43 were seriously hurt over the course of the year, the official said.

There were five more deaths overall in 2016 than in 2015.

Several IDF soldiers have already lost their lives in 2017, including four who were killed when a Palestinian truck driver rammed his vehicle into a group of people near the walled Old City of Jerusalem on Sunday.

This ones again proves Indian Army is ahead in physiological health of soldier's.
These are the list of militaries which recently released their data on suicides:
-USA
-UK
-France
-Russia
-Turkey
-Israel
-Canada
-Australia
-India
-Japan
-South Korea.

Indian Army has the lowest rate among all.
N pakistan has no rate at all, not a single suicide reported, u gotta accept that, we are far ahead of india in a soldiers mental health..

Off-topic but Pakistan is no position to say anything on this as their military does not release suicude data.

So, the standard is, a Military has no suicide count, will be labeled as not releasing the data.

Not really, opaque militaries like China, North Korea too do not release data, does not mean they have a zero suicide rate.

Guess the original thread was about israel not india so u dragging india here was majorly offtopic too and by the way do u people ever get tired of deception and lies, try truth n honour and respect once in a while, its has amazing effects on one's perspective, lol, pakistani army has no suicide data to release, suicide is strictly forbidden in islam and it excludes one from islam so no pakistani soldier commits it, period, get it???

But still, it is not the standard to claim as such. The thread started with Israel and see what you did there. Calling other military an opaque is the ones style sometimes to do so.

In such a world, full of adversaries with technical access and all, it is really hard to hide such numbers. Pakistan is not out of contact like NK that Media is allover in-case of such incident ever happened, so it is nothing but a claim.

Turkey is a Muslim nation.
It's Army has a pretty high suicide rate.

As I said earlier, don't bring other things into different subject.
