What's new

Strategical Gawadar.

Prashant,

All this constructionwork on megaprojects will benefit the local labor.
Think about new jobs in construction, transport, banking, retail, sevices etc..
China will get consessions on lower transit fares, but CAR is also a market Gwadar is targetting.

In future Gwadar will function as a transit hub for other seaports aswell, like Dubai where goods are imported, (re)prossed and exported again.

Analysts predict that Gwadar will help create 1.0-1.2 million new jobs till 2015 in Balochistan only.
Total population is 7.3 million, growing at 2.8% p.a. Now do the calculation.
No way Balochis are to be overlooked in this new economic boom. :)

Balochis would definitely not be ignored especially after Musharraf just recently instructed the Gwadar authorities to employ more Baloch (locals) even if they don't meet certain criterias for those jobs. This means that locals are being given preference.

And as for the arguement of foreigners coming in to Baloch lands, that is unpreventable. For development and progress, you need investment, where there is investment outsiders would come (whether foreigners or fellow Pakistanis from other areas), this is a multi-polar world.

There is nothing wrong with foreigners coming to Gwadar, it will expedite the growth and diversufy the society.

And why should the established business society not benefit from this golden opportunity? As long as Gwadar and rest of Balochistan get the full advantage, I'd say let anyone come to Gwadar!
I've always been a supporter of transmigration in Pakistan aswel.

Hope you guys understand that Gwadar is simply too far away from East Chinese markets.

So are the western provinces of China, making Pakistan the shortest 'friendly' corridor for Chinese trade via Gwadar. :)

Agrred construction work will help baluchis, baluchis will fit in for construction work ,but what abt other fields u mentioned.

Are they qualified to be recruited for other jobs.
When mushraff said hire baluchis even if they arent qualified directly points at his admission that there arent enough qualified people available.

Hiow much has China invested in gwadar and the infrastructure links? Was all that investment just for concessional transit fares?
Wudnt China need a chunk of the money earned too.Bcoz thats how business work, you put money and then u need to get a return out of it too.And not only that they will putting their life at risk too so they might charge GOP some extra premium too.

What does western China export/import.

The rich east is where from majority of the trade happens.

The Balochis aren't complaining, the 'sardars' with their firebrand bunch of followers are! That is because they know, they are bound to lose control that they have right now over the Baloch masses. They are feudal lords and a feudal society only works if there is no dilution of authoritarian rule that the 'sardars' exert. They fear this dilution which is coming!

The Baloch people cannot be held hostage by selfish motives of these sardars and these lawless medieval tribal lords will be taught a thing or two about 21st century.

In the longer run, Balochis will compete with other ethnicities in Pakistan.
Its up to them how they embrace the modernisation package GoP had developped.
Under the socalled 'Khushhal Pakistan' Balochistan is getting somewhat 140 billion Pak ruppes.
If that doesn't help tomake life easier in Blochistan than what is?

Billions of $$$!
You see, Gwadar is a multipurpose project for the China and Pakistan; China agreed to use Pakistan corrider to enhance trade with its western provinces which are going thru an economic boom. Trade is seen 400% growth In the Sichuan province during the last decade only.
Military advantage that China will get doesn't need further explanation.

How many schools, Colleges, technical instituions does the 7.3 Mn baluchis have?
Not enough yet, but again the sardars have always opposed modernisation and hampered attempts to make changes in the past.
This time its different.
Balochistan will develop, even if Bhugti like idiots tell otherwise.

Its not even the ordinary Balochis that are complaining.....its the RAW trained terrorists like BLA and the bugti clan who are trying to do hindoostan's dirty work by not letting the Gwadar project move forward. Their indian terrorist training is the usual blowing up gas pipelines, power generators, civilian targets, foreign workers etc. RAW provides them with funding in Qatar and training and support from hindoostan's RAW counsulates all over afghanistan.

Besides how can a largely uneducated poor population of just 5 million Balochis expect to control and develop the province. Also Gwadar is going to be declared Federal Territory since the Gov of Pakistan purchased it back from Oman in the 50's...Hence making it the property of the Federal Government.
