Servicetime of officers in the Turkish Army/Navy/AF

I know that we have quite a few officers in Turkey, but I don't know if it's balanced or not, since so many officers retire every year.

how many years do officers serve and why are so many being replaced every year. Isn't it a waste to lose all their knowledge ?

Military board appoints new commander for Gendarmerie - POLITICS

In terms of specialists and NCOs, we are at average but when it comes to officers we spend hell amount of money per one officer. It's higher than world avarege. Officer trainings depend between 4 to 12 years..and those are branch courses excluded.

Since the day you graduate from War Academies Harp Okulu (Deniz/Hava/Kara), more simply, the day you get commissioned; You are required to serve in Armed Forces for at least 10 years (It was 15 years before because of the huge amount of money we spend on them)
After a "decade", you'll have the right to give your resignation whenever you want..don't mix it with retirement.

If you don't serve for 10 years after your decommission, the Military Court will charge you with deserting the colors and you will pay compensation to oder.

If you are a Brigadier General or a higher ranked ranked officer, Everytime when the Supreme Military Board (YAŞ) meets, they will reevaluate you..they'll either promote you, or retire you no matter even if you hadn't pass the age limit or you'll keep commanding the command you are charge of. This system is important and must for General Staff.

That's good information, I have to admit that it fits with my impression. Aren't we "retiring" too many officers who could still be of use to the Army ?

I don't know how long officers in other countries serve, but I think ours is too short.
