Saudi Arabia: Employer chops off hand of Tamil Nadu woman for trying to escape torture

A woman from Tamil Nadu -- working in a Saudi household as a domestic help -- has been hospitalised in Riyadh in a critical condition after her right hand was chopped off by her employer, as per TV reports.

Kasturi Munirathnam, who has suffered severe injuries on her body and limbs, has been admitted to Kingdom Hospital, Manorama News reported.

The woman, who hails from North Arcot near Vellore, had reached Saudi Arabia two months ago. In August, Kasturi was first taken to Damam and later shifted to a house in Riyadh, where only women stayed.

She was reportedly burdened with heavy workload and was not even allowed to have telephonic conversation with her relatives in India.

When Kasturi managed to get help from a Tamil Nadu native, she was locked up inside a room and was subjected to mental and physical torture ever since.

Once when she received death threat from the women, she tried to escape through the balcony of her room. However, when she got out, her hand was chopped off allegedly by her employer.

Currently, the Tamil Nadu wing of Indian Social Forum is taking care of the woman. The Indian embassy officials have met her and extended all support to her.

The investigation, which was carried out by Al-Sahafa police, has been handed over to Saudi Investigation Bureau, reports said.

Kasturi is the breadwinner of her family, which consists of her ailing husband, three daughters and one son.

Is there a law and order in saudia ?
Will the lady even get justice ?

The day world finds substtution for oil, these oil sheikhs will face horrible hardship since they are incapable of doing any kind of work.

Hats off to the people of subcontinent who are making a living out of thin air.

Not that such things don't happen in india , sure india has a poor record when it comes to women safety but there is a good chance that things will improve with proper education and economic development , but as far as saudi arabia is concerned the chances are quite remote that any amount of oil money , skyscrapers or posh cars are gonna change these medieval fools ...we should start looking for an alternative for petroleum.

Saudi sponsor chops off Indian maid's hand, India seeks severe punishment for accused - Firstpost

New Delhi: A Saudi sponsor has chopped off an Indian maid's hand, evoking strong condemnation from India which demanded that a case of attempted murder be lodged against the culprit.

"We are aware of the plight of Kashturi Munirathinam, a domestic help who has suffered serious injuries allegedly inflicted by her Saudi Arabian sponsor. This is a very unfortunate and most condemnable incident.

India household help in Saudi.

"Our Embassy in Riyadh has taken up the matter with the Saudi Foreign Office and asked for strict action in the matter and severe punishment for the sponsor. We have also sought an independent probe in the incident and urged that a case of attempted murder be lodged against the sponsor so that he is punished, if found guilty as per law," the Spokesperson in the External Affairs Ministry said.

Munirathinam is currently being looked after in a Saudi hospital, he said.

"India also proposes to take up this issue in the JWG on Labour Matters with Saudi Arabia which will be held in New Delhi on October 12-13 and is the established institutional mechanism for such matters," the Spokesperson said, adding, "We will continue to seek justice for the victim."

Asked about an update on the condition of three Indians including two teachers, abducted near war-torn Libya and held hostage by the Islamic militant group ISIS, the Spokesperson said they have received a video evidence of their being "alive" as recent as September 27 and they were making all efforts to secure their release.

He also said that there was no ransom demand for their release.

Asked about Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan seeking UN intervention to look into the "miseries" of minorities in India in the wake of the Dadri incident, the Spokesperson refused to comment saying "it is domestic politics".

On whether Baloch separatist leader Nawab Jada Mari has sought asylum in India, he did not give a direct answer and said India has been home to all prosecuted people in the world.

Ah!
This is what I read yesterday
Saudi husband caught forcing himself on his maid on camera and wife faces jail | Daily Mail Online

And now the woman faces jail for "defaming" her husband.
The real culprit will come out spotlessly clean in the end. Wow!
:o: Defaming her Husband and going to jail for that.
I'm not sure how rule works in Saudi, but in most countries, in this case, the lady could have got a divorce with hefty money from the jerk she married and not to mention a bad name and social shame for the man.
But guess that is how the concept of parallel universe must have come from.

I'm sure they still believe earth is the Center of the universe.

I don't know much about their laws but this one shocked me. :tsk:

And the US is in bed with SA while attacking Syria for no reason at all。

US the Evil。

Medieval fools!!! And their retarded laws!!
It will be wrong to pull a blanket statement on all the KSAians, the fact that a lot Saudi Arabians supported the woman by sharing this video online proves that not all of them support such laws. Albeit it might take eons to scrap such laws.

Barbaric animals. No amount of money, time or education will change these animals. Allah SWT, sent most of the Prophets to these lands, yet, they till-date remain what they were centuries before Judaism/Christianity/Islam came to their shores.

Gruesome act... Medival Retards...
Instead of suffering like this, better to kill those idiots and get killed, that may teach those idiots something.
