Romania intends to buy another squadron of F-16 fighter planes, Digi24 informs. A draft acquisition document is on the table of Defence Ministry specialists and is to be submitted to the government in the coming period. Meanwhile, six fighter planes from the already ordered squadron have been modernised and Romanian pilots have started practicing.

That is good development. Romania lies in crucial geopolitical part of Balkans facing the expansion of new Russian Reich under Tsar Putin. The strong Romanian armed forces can help Moldova against Transnistria rebel region supported by Russians.

Never was a great fan of F16 aquisition but as we allready have a batch on order this is the next logical step.Seeing how we're modernising 3 air bases we will probably see 1 or 2 follow up orders in the next years until we reach the 48 jets required.

Unspecified at the moment,the first batch were MLU tape M5.2R but i'm hoping the new batch will be a higher upgrade.

The Aim9X and the C7's will probably come but they won't be new jets.100% US jets which will receive a MLU .To what extent-we shall see...

This is the problem when you neglect your Armed Forces for so long,...if shit hits the fan you got a ton of things to modernise,so the Air Force is being brought up to date in different batches,a squadron 2 years ago,1 now,another 2 in the next 2-3 years.On top of that we have programs for new SAM's,artillery upgrade,modernising the frigates |(this is allready in progress),a 1 billion euro tender for new APC's( i smell a riot on this one) coming also,etc.A lot of rust buckets to be replaced....not enough money.

later once Romania Increase their Budget they can buy ET ... that will make a deadly combination ..

PAF must look forward to training with the Romanian pilots.

It must be a great game to put Romanian Mig 21, + Pak F16 Vs Pak F-7 + Romanian F16s.

At least yours kept the Army in some state of order.I remember a fucktard prime minister of ours back in 2007 when GDP was growing 7% and money were flowing ,saying to the Army when he was told to buy 48 new jets as the Migs were crumbling,,that he gives raises to people not buying useless weapons !

because we have this very friendly neighbor who has some issues from 1947
so we have to keep them check
