DAMASCUS: Two rockets struck the Russian embassy compound in Damascus on Tuesday (Oct 13) sparking panic as several hundred people gathered to express their support for Moscow's air war in Syria, AFP journalists said.

Some 300 people had begun to gather for a demonstration backing Russia's recent intervention in Syria when the rockets crashed into the embassy compound in the Mazraa neighbourhood of the capital, the journalists at the scene said.

There was widespread panic, but it was not immediately clear if anyone had been wounded or killed. The demonstrators had been waving Russian flags and holding up large photographs of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said the rockets were fired from the eastern edges of the capital, where Islamist rebels are entrenched. The Russian embassy has been the target of rocket attacks before.

On September 21, just nine days before it began its air war in Syria, Moscow demanded "concrete action" after a shell hit the embassy's compound in Damascus. In May, one person was killed by mortar rounds that landed nearby. Three were hurt when mortar rounds landed inside the compound in April.

Bad move by insurgents. Now air strikes will be INTENSIFIED

You can't invade a nation and bomb their people and expect no retaliation. Hopefully lots of Russian terrorists died in this attack.

Can you please post same statement at Yemen Watch - News, Updates & Discussions.

Many thanks !!

Only a typical fool like you will compare the situation in Yemen to the situation in Syria, first did the FSA attack Russia or threaten Russia? Now did the Houthis attack KSA and threaten KSA? Answer these 2 questions and you'll realize why you're nothing more than a typical fool.

There is no need to attack personal if you have logic to support you. You can initiate a poll over here what majority thinks. If you have any confusion and tasted democracy ever.

The head of Syria can invite anyone officially or un-officially to act or help them in there needs.

Problem in Yemen is was inside Yemen until KSA started poking nose into it.

Terrorist for one is a freedom fighter for other..

Ask common man in Yemen who is the terrorist. :D
