Musharraf to appear before court on 29

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday allowed the former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf to appear in court on March 29.
Headed by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, the division bench of SHC was hearing the application moved by Advcate AQ Halepota on behalf of applicant Pervez Musharraf, submitting that applicant arrived Karachi on 24 March and in obedience to order passed by the court, he may be permitted to surrender before this court on March 29.
He submitted that applicant had appealed to appear before the court on March 29. The court ruled that the case will be taken up on March 29.
Earlier on March 21, the SHC had granted the protective bail to Musharraf in three high-profile cases without touching the merits of cases. SHC granted protective bail for 10 days to Gen Musharraf in the case of illegal confinement of 62 judges after he declared a state of emergency in the country on Nov 3, 2007.
The applicant through his counsel submitted that he left the country on his own but at relevant time no case was registered against him. However, he added that after his departure from the country numerous cases have been planted due to malafide and obvious reasons that he could not come back to country. ppi
