Posted in another thread before, but posting here again (revised), as it is the sticky thread on this topic.

    Arab-Israeli conflict:
    Arab
Sun Tzu would look at this conflict and laugh. It is my belief the main misunderstanding on the part of Arabs has been not recognizing the fact that because of the history of Jewish people in European lands, they are an inseparable part of Western civilization. Essentially Jewish people throughout history have played key roles in this civilization, not to mention have been a victim for most of history, until quite recently. So the state of Israel, as a home for this victimized population, from European lands as well as Arab lands (after 1947), will be under protection of the West, as its very own. This means that if Arab people want to beat Israel in a military conflict, they would have to eclipse the West in military power. For one thing, Arab League only has a population of about 350 million, whereas the size of the West is increasing, as it absorbs more of the former Soviet countries in Eastern Europe. Currently the West has about 1 billion people. Considering the difference in HDI (Human Development Index) in Arab lands and the West, it does not seem possible that Arabs would at any time in the foreseeable future be able to eclipse the West in terms of economic power, which translates directly into military power. Even if Arabs were to team up with the whole of Muslim world, which is about 1.6 billion in population, divided in many states and in different continents, who have little in common other than following a common religion, even then, the Muslims collectively would not be able to match the West in economic or military power for the foreseeable future. So if this is big picture, what should be done to solve this problem?

First thing would be to recognize that this conflict is un-winnable for Arabs or Muslims by military means. So continuation of hostility is only providing opportunity to Israel to grab more lands illegally and also allowing other enemy's of Islam such as Hindu India to team up with Israel and enhance their combined ability to run a world wide campaign of Islamophobia which affects all Muslims negatively and further antagonizes Muslims against Israel and Jewish people. Not only that, it also gives lunatics like OBL and others to take up the cause and create further rift between the West and Muslims.

So my suggestion would be to analyze this situation by some responsible body such as Arab League or OIC and come to some important decisions:

    1. Settle the conflict between Israel and Palestinians once and for all, even under unfavorable terms that tilts to favor Israel
    2. Once the conflict is settled, maintain peace at all cost
    3. No more hostility from Arab/Palestinian side
    4. Gaza to be integrated with Egyptian economy and West Bank to be integrated with Jordanian economy
    5. Ask Jewish groups in the US, Israel and elsewhere to cease their campaign of Islamophobia and activities to undermine the future positive developments of Arabs and Muslims of the world and end their partnerships in these activities with Hindu nationalist groups who are engaged in these same activities

Sorry to irritate, but facts are facts and they come up because of valid reasons and connections between Jewish and Hindu Nationalist campaigns of Islamophobia.

Yes, there are a few bad apples in every community, but that provides the opportunity and ammunition for some people (some Jewish/zionist and some Hindu nationalists) to tarnish the image all 1.6 billion Muslims and create phobia against Islam and Muslims. Muslims are NOT in a position to take over the world, Hindu Nationalists may be in the future (remains to be seen) and Jewish/zionist groups already are in positions of power, but they promote this false propaganda to dehumanize Muslims, so oppression of Muslims can be justified. Blaming the victim is classic technique of dehumanization.

I think you are confusing Israelis with Palestinian Arabs.

Hitler slaughtered six million Jews in WWII and I don't recall Turks offering any Jews asylum then.

Israel even has Jewish citizens who publicly hate the Jewish state. I don't call them "sensible" or G-d-fearing but I suppose you might.

Israel has no empire. It only has a fraction of the Mandate territory allotted to Jewish settlement after WWI and despite having expelled Jews from Arab-controlled territory throughout the world Arabs are greedy for even that remaining slice.

the Prophet said: “The People will soon summon one another to attack you as people when eating invite others to share their food.” Someone asked, “Will that be because of our small numbers at that time?” He replied, “No, you will be numerous at that time: but you will be froth and scum like that carried down by a torrent (of water), and Allah will take the fear of you from the breasts (hearts) of your enemy and cast al- wahn into your hearts.” Someone asked, “O Messenger of Allah, what is al-wahn?” He replied, “Love of the world and dislike of death.” [An authentic hadith recorded by Abu Dawud and Ahmad]

The main drivers of the current world order is the Christian West!

    You somehow forgot them. ;)

Islam has nothing to do with it.

We share interests like we do with several Muslim, Christian, atheist, Buddhist and other countries.

We are the only two democracies in a vast region marred by religious fanaticism and extremism.

NGO that wants Palestinian refugees let into Israel is barred from Ramallah for being Israeli
Anti-normalization protests force cancellation of workshop on the practicalities of the ‘right of return’

Zochrot, a radical Israeli NGO that advocates the “right of return” of Palestinian refugees to the State of Israel, has been forced to cancel a workshop in Ramallah due to Palestinian anti-normalization pressure placed on the organizers.

Eitan Bronstein, Zochrot’s spokesman, told The Times of Israel on Wednesday that his organization was invited by a Quaker-run social club in Ramallah to present a counter-mapping project, dealing with the practical aspects of Palestinian return to abandoned villages within Israel.

The event, advertised on Facebook, garnered more than 100 RSVPs within hours, Bronstein says. But some Palestinians protested that an invitation had been extended to an Israeli organization, however sympathetic to Palestinian goals, considering it an unacceptable instance of “normalization” with Israel.

“Most Palestinian reactions continued to support the event,” Bronstein said. “Dialogue with an organization that supports the right of return and Israeli recognition of the Nakba is not only not ‘normalization,’ but it is moreover vital to create a common Israeli-Palestinian discourse among those who object to the current regime of separation.”

He said the event was nevertheless canceled due to the organizers’ sense that “the atmosphere that was created was not conducive to such an important discussion.”

Israeli governments of all shades have rejected the Palestinian demand for a “right of return,” which would give millions of descendants of Palestinians who lived in what is today Israel the right to “return” — undermining or reversing Israel’s majority Jewish demographic. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has remained formally committed to the demand, while also sometimes stating that Israel cannot be expected to accept an influx of millions of Palestinians.

According to its website, the main goal of Zochrot is “to bring knowledge of the Palestinian Nakba to Jewish-Israeli people.” (Nakba is a term widely used for the “catastrophe” of the events in 1948 surrounding the establishment of Israel.)

“One of the basic assumptions of our work is that the Nakba is the ‘ground zero’ of the Israeli-Palestine conflict,” the website states. “Awareness and recognition of the Nakba by Jewish-Israeli people, and taking responsibility for this tragedy, are essential to ending the struggle and starting a process of reconciliation between the people of Palestine-Israel.”

“In recognizing and materializing the right of return lies the possibility for Jews and Palestinians to live in this country together,” the website adds.

Bronstein expressed hope that the event would be rescheduled, and added a word of understanding for his boycotters.

“We are disappointed by the cancellation, but understand that the suspicion of many Palestinians towards any contact with Israelis is based on many years of experiencing oppression. Therefore, we will not forgo efforts to continue the debate on return of refugees in various methods.”
