Pakistani army spokesman Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas said one of their AH-1 Cobra gunship helicopter has crashed in the Teera Valley in Pakistan's Khyber tribal area near the Afghanistan’s border. Both helicopter's pilot and gunner lost their lives in the incident. According to initial reports crash appeared to have been caused by either bad weather or a mechanical failure.

The Pakistan Army is likely to acquire 20 SuperCobra helicopters to reinforce its fleet of ageing Cobra attack helicopters, which are being extensively used in operations against terrorists in tribal regions.
