Ground Reality and Pitch: Part of the world's first integrated sports city, the Dubai Sports City Cricket Stadium has a unique lighting system where the lights are placed on the roof to create a 'Ring of Fire' like view instead of the usual towers. The pitch here is a dry wicket, largely assisting the batsmen and the spinners. This ground has hosted 10 T20 games so far and three times, teams batting first have scored in excess of 150.

Pakistan: Following a more than forgettable tour 'Down Under', confusions and controversies ruled Pakistan cricket once again. A dysfunctional cricket board, numerous committees to probe into Pakistan's performance and the cricketers caught up in controversies - the ball biting incident involving Shahid Afridi, the war of words between Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Yousuf and the indiscipline shown by players like Umar Akmal, Umar Gul and Mohammad Aamer - Pakistan cricket once again faced the ire of the fans and the media. But as the saying goes, "When you are down, the only way left is going up." The T20 games provide Pakistan the right opportunity to make amends for their disastrous performances in recent times and restore belief in their embattled team. Shoaib Malik, who would be leading the side following Afridi's ban, would be hoping to put together a good team performance.

England: The English team, which got a well deserved rest after a mixed outing in South Africa, would look to start afresh. Paul Collingwood returns to lead the English side in the T20 games. A team full of youngsters, raring to perform, England have the right platform to try out different combinations, with an eye on the World Twenty20 to be played in the Caribbean this April. Limited overs specialists like Luke Wright, Eoin Morgan, Joe Denly and Tim Bresnan have an ideal opportunity to showcase their talents while experienced players like Pietersen, Cook and Collingwood would be hoping to strike form ahead of a hectic season.

Head to Head: England and Pakistan have faced each other in 2 Twenty20 matches till date. The first match was played at Bristol in 2006 which England lost by 5 wickets, while the second game, played at the Oval during the World Twenty20 last year, was won by England.

Numbers Game:
The numbers of T20 games won by Pakistan at the DSC stadium. Pakistan, which played 2 matches against New Zealand and 1 against Australia here, won all the 3 games.

The number of fifties scored by England players against Pakistan in T20s. Marcus Trescothick was the first to score a fifty against Pakistan while Kevin Pietersen scored the second.

Quotes:
We haven't performed that well after winning the World Twenty20. We have been struggling ever since we went to Sri Lanka, but you try and learn from your mistakes: Shoaib Malik
Pakistan are a very strong Twenty20 side and we're going to have to be right on our game to beat them. It might be a good time to play them, but you never quite know what you're going to get on the day: Collingwood

England beats Pakistan by 7 wickets
19 FEBRUARY 2010

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — England successfully chased Pakistan’s modest total of 129-8 to win the first of two Twenty20 Internationals between the teams by seven wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium Friday.

England appeared to be in trouble when they lost three wickets in quick succession, but Kevin Pietersen and Eoin Morgan came together for the highest England fourth-wicket partnership in a Twenty20 match, allowing Paul Collingwood?s men to reach the target with nine balls to spare.

Morgan was unbeaten on 67, while Pietersen contributed 43 as England scored 130-3.

Earlier, Pakistan extended its poor run with the bat.

A reckless display by the Pakistan batsmen squandered the toss advantage after stand-in captain Shoaib Malik opted to bat. Malik is captain in place of Shahid Afridi who is serving a two-match ban for ball tampering.

Pakistan wickets fell at regular intervals, starting with opener Imran Nazir who pulled a Stuart Broad delivery to Joe Denly at midwicket, to start the slide. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals thereafter. Malik played a steady hand in the middle overs but he too got out to a tame shot in the 15th over to derail any hopes of recovery.

Graeme Swann was the pick of England’s bowlers, taking 2-18.

they were probably trying to keep him for WC 2010 but his recent performances are below average so i am sure he will not be selected for 2010 WC. We may see Kamran Akmal again or may see another player like in 2009 WC we had a young talent opening the inning along with Akmal

I guess Nazir and Akmal may become solid pairs in T20 but Nazir more consistantly needs to perform

DUBAI: England set a modest target of 149 runs for Pakistan in the second Twenty20 International here at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

After Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik won the toss again and this time he put England to bat first who made 148 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Opener Jonathan Trott and Kevin Pietersen posted 98 runs for the second wicket partnership after England lost Joe Denly, who was bowled by pacer Yasir Arafat.

They took score to 110 in 16.1 overs when Trott was run out by Imran Nazir for 39. Then, England lost two more wickets for only 15 runs due to which their run rate became slower.

Pietersen smashed 62 from 40 balls with three sixes and four boundaries.

Later, Arafat captured two more wickets on successive balls in the final over to finish with three for 32. Other wicket-takers were Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal, taking one wicket each.

Both Pakistan and England made one change each in their teams as Shahid Afridi returned to Pakistan side after serving his two-match ban. He replaced Khalid Lateef..

England leading 1-0 in the two-match series, dropped Ryan Sidebottom, who has a thigh strain following an awkward fall in the field in the Friday match. In his place, Ajmal Shahzad made his T20 debut.

Teams:
Pakistan: Imran Farhat, Imran Nazir, Shoaib Malik (captain), Umar Akmal, Shahid Afridi, Fawad Alam, Abdul Razzaq, Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), Yasir Arafat, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal.

England: Joe Denly, Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood (captain), Eoin Morgan, Luke Wright, Matt Prior (wk), Stuart Broad, Tim Bresnan, Ajmal Shahzad, Graeme Swann

What a knock from Razzaq 46 from 18 balls with five sixes.

Pakistan v England T20I Series, 2nd T20I:

England 148/6 (20/20 ov)

Pakistan 149/6 (19.0/20 ov)

Pakistan won by 4 wickets (with 6 balls remaining)

at one stage i thought we lost the match when we were required 85 runs in 57 deliveries

but when razzaq hit 2 consecutive sixes and the third in next over that was the turning point that changed the whole scenario and from there we never looked back and the last 2 sixes from razzaq finished the job
