Separating noise from reality on the subcontinent can be especially difficult. Thus the latest rhetorical hostility between India and Pakistan could be just that — another spat between nuclear-armed neighbours who hesitate to match words with weapons because of the dangers of mutual annihilation.

Pakistan vows nuclear retaliation if India attacks

Pakistani officials have threatened to use nuclear weapons should India invade, after India’s new army chief admitted to secret military plans for attacking its neighbour in the event of a crisis.

First, India has no interest in invading Pakistan.

Anyway, Pakistan nukes can make India think twice before it invades (which is very unlikely). But nukes are no good for aggression. The huge conventional superiority that India enjoys in this region makes India the offensive force in IOR. And that determines who will rule the Indian ocean in future.

Invasion is out of the question, there is nothing to gain with an invasion of Pakistan.
Border skirmishes are more likely, and this will not cause nuclear war. Conventional military power is more important than nuclear weapons for short intensive skirmishes.

I hope Pakistan is aware of India's Nuclear doctorine. Any nuclear attack on India will attract massive unacceptable damage to enemy. It is the pakistan's choice to use Nuclear weapon.

Pakistan, the country which possesses nuclear weapons will use all of its weapons to defend country, according to the statement of Pakistani official.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Pakistan is ready to use all the weapons at its disposal to defend itself in the event India invades, in the wake of Indian army chief’s statement they would attack Pakistan in case of terrorist attacks, media reported citing Pakistani officials.

"If ever our national security is threatened by advancing foreign forces, Pakistan will use all of its weapons — and I mean all of our weapons — to defend our country," one of the officials told The Financial Times.

Pakistan is one of the countries that possesses nuclear weapons.

Earlier this month, Indian Army chief Bipin Rawat spoke about the existence of a "cold start," a strategy that enables the army to instantly respond to crises, such as militant attacks, without letting the enemy prepare or triggering a nuclear response.

Since the establishment of India and Pakistan after the British India dissolution, the two states have had territorial dispute over the Kashmir region. The tensions rose after the Indian army base at Uri in Kashmir was attacked in September last year, with 19 soldiers being killed. India responded by conducting surgical strikes on the border with Pakistan.
