Pakistan successfully test-fires cruise missile Hataf -VIII Ra’ad

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan successfully tested a nuclear-capable, air-launched cruise missile with a range of 350 km on Thursday.

The Hatf-VIII Ra'ad missile had been developed exclusively for launch from aircraft.

The indigenously developed missile also had special stealth capabilities and could deliver all types of warheads with great accuracy.

President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Makhdoom Yousuf Raza Gilani have congratulated the team of scientist on successful test.

Just another test.. no improvements.

Its an air to surface missile. It is not Babur like in the above picture.

Thanks.

This is not the first test of Ra'ad right? Or am I remembering something else?

No its the second test. Ra'ad was first test fired on 25th August 2007 from a Mirage III Rose-1.

NICE.....to see, HATAFs... newst version in the air, but it couldnt be the answer to AGNI 111, sory... to say.. that, pakistan have to come out of US shadow or its unjustifieyed.... infuence....and should folow the.... the great game!

i guss its, the right time for pakitan.... to go for the LONGER RANGE, and deep strike capable..... missile, and it is pakistans right to get long range capability, pakistan... shouldnt be worried... any thing, anybody.... on this issue.

wishing.... pakistan..... goodluck......and hope for the best to come:pakistan::welcome::china::sniper::usflag::cheers::lol:

ARY one world actually showed the ALCM being launched by a Mirage aircraft. nice video.

Okay but why did they do it again. I was done before. I think ARY showed the old video of its launch.:pakistan::pakistan:

Cruise missile fired from aerial platform

ISLAMABAD, May 8: Pakistan on Thursday conducted a successful ‘flight test’ of the indigenously developed nuclear capable air launched cruise missile, Hatf-VIII (Ra’ad).

The test is part of a continuing process of validating the design parameters of the weapon system.

According to an official statement, the Ra’ad missile with a range of 350km, has been developed exclusively for launch from aerial platforms, enabling Pakistan to achieve a greater strategic capability on land and at sea.

The complex cruise missile technology has been developed by only a few countries of the world. The missile has special stealth capabilities.

It is a Low Altitude, Terrain Following Missile with high manoeuvrability, and can deliver all types of warheads, with a high accuracy.

A cruise missile carries an explosive payload and uses a lifting wing and a propulsion system, usually a jet engine, to allow sustained flight.

It is essentially a flying bomb, generally designed to carry a large conventional or nuclear warhead many hundreds of miles with high accuracy. Modern cruise missiles can travel at supersonic or high subsonic speed.

These guided missiles are self-navigating and fly on a non-ballistic very low altitude trajectory in order to avoid radar detection.

The most common mission for cruise missiles is to attack relatively high value targets such as ships, command bunkers, bridges and dams. The modern guidance system permits precise attacks.

President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani in their messages congratulated scientists and engineers on the successful test of the missile.

Looking at the image of the Ra'ad on the back of the truck (in the video posted by Dynamic Dynasty - 0:07), I wonder if the AWC's claim of "stealth design" goes beyond mere Ram coatings.

Unlike the Babur, the Ra'ad is quite blocky, and it would appear unlikely that such a blocky design would be the obvious choice vs the typically cylindrical design of most missiles.
