A Spruance class destroyer was procured which now is confirmed.

what is the current indian navy combant (surface and subsurface) fleet size (not total navy size of 139 ships)

What are the Leanders used for I think they only have modest ASW capabilities

Pakistan has about 18 actualy surface combatants
india has about actualy 69 surface combatants

therefore india has bout 4 times as many ships, and probably about as much more capability (and a little more; carrier and some big ships)

at present

Training.

The leanders are the part of Eastern Fleet of the Indian Navy.

They are mostly used for training.
[post=]Quoted post[/post]

How were the Leander class acquired for Indian Navy? Was it there a cheap deal between British and Indians?

For the training? I see what kind of training?

Finally how many are in service of IN?

India has invested heavily during the past five years creating the fourth largest and best equipped navy in the world.
My true concern is Indian aircraft carriers coz we simply have no answer, nothing even compareable.
PAF is absorbing lions share of our defence expenditure, but we can't afford to neglect our navy. :wall:

If Pakistan can advance in the field of cruise missile technology and create another naval version of Babur with extended range, then the threat of Indian Navy can reduce significantly.

Just a matter of time and we'll have longer range version of Babur.
But our priority should be to make a naval version of the Babur so our submarines can be equipped.
And we need to tripple the number of our submarine fleet to have a credible defence against IN.

Long range cruise missiles will be a significiant additon to your forces.Woth that pakistan can stop Indian ships from coming in firing range.

Babur's extended range is being worked up on as well as work on its integration with PN's surface and sub-surface fleet has currently gathered pace.

Integrating Babur into subs is a complicated procedure as the device will have to be miniaturised or alteast downscaled from current design to fit in.
But it should be easy to equip our frigates, destroyer and missileboats anytime soon.
Babur is reported to be designed with landhugging and seaskimming capabilities.

I'm curious about the gps / guidence system, are we using chinese satelites as we don't have one of our own yet?
