Pakistan has huge potential of exploitation of natural resources and minerals
ISLAMABAD, Jan 5 (APP): Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Production, Dr. Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto said that Pakistan has huge potential of exploitation of natural resources and minerals like marble and granite to strengthen the national economy. She stated this during a briefing on Pakistan Stoke Development Company (PASDEC) efforts for marble and granite sector development in the country presented by CEO of the Company Ihsanullah Khan here Thursday.
She said that government is taking all measures to develop the emerging sectors of the country and marble and granite is one of them.
She urged mine owners to stop uncontrolled blasting and adopt modern quarrying practices through state of the art machinery for value added production.
Ihsanullah Khan, CEO PASDEC, briefed the Parliamentary Secretary about the efforts of PASDEC for sector development achievements.
He elaborated that PASDEC has replaced orthodox practices of quarrying with state of the art machinery.
He informed that PASDEC has established more than twenty projects of marble and granite development in Baluchistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA while others are in pipeline.
He said that due to PASDEC efforts the marble export quantum increased during 2011.
He also informed that PASDEC has launched marble mosaic and inlays training programme to promote skill development and entrepreneurship culture amongst women.
The programme will generate opportunities of livelihood in remote and rural areas, he added.
The Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Production, Dr. Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto directed PASDEC to initiate marble mosaic training for women in rural areas of Sindh province in particular Khairpur district.
She also desired to established marble and granite development projects in Sindh to exploit the province reserves for the benefit of the people.
