Pakistan's Interior Ministry has dismissed as "ridiculous" claims by a separatist outfit that it was behind the deadly bombing at a fruit market that killed at least 24 people.

Initial probe has indicated that United Balochistan Army - a lesser-known separatist outfit operating in the restive southwest province - has no links to the bomb attack, the Ministry said in a statement issued late last night.

"It is surprising and ridiculous to see that organisation taking responsibility. The investigation done by government security and intelligence agencies shows that this incident is linked to somewhere else," the Ministry spokesperson said without identifying who they suspected.

The Ministry said the security agencies will go after whoever is responsible for the blast.

The United Balochistan Army had earlier claimed responsibility for the blast and said the attack was in retaliation to the
operation being carried out by security agencies in the restive Balochistan which has so far killed over 30 suspected militants.

A powerful bomb ripped through a fruit market in Sector I-11 on the outskirts of the Pakistani capital yesterday and killed at least 24 people besides injuring over 100 others.
