LAHORE: (Daily Dunya) – Pakistan is way behind all its South Asian neighbours on the social progress index as it fell on the 133rd number in the 133-country list. India is ranked at 98, Sri Lanka at 83 while even Bangladesh and Nepal have surpassed Pakistan.
The small and poor country of Nepal saw a massive rise in 2016 for adopting democracy.
A list of 133 countries has been released on social progress index 2016 based on human needs and opportunities. Pakistan was ranked at 133 on the list while Nepal was ranked at 95 and Bangladesh at 101.
According to Foundation of Well Being, Pakistan remained at 119 in terms of access to information, communication tools and environment while India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal performed much better than Pakistan yet again.
On the list of individual freedom, basic human rights, tolerance and access to higher education, Pakistan saw the least amount of development during the last one year. It is ranked on 123 on this account.
