SRINAGAR: Pakistan’s national flag was once again hoisted in various places of Indian-held Kashmir. According to Kashmir Media Service, eyewitnesses told reporters that unidentified persons had hoisted Pakistani flag at Hariparbat Fort, Buchpora, Babademb, Gojwara, Rawalpora, Narbal, Sopore and several other places of the Kashmir Valley.

The appearance of Pakistani flag caught people by surprise. They said that they saw these flags during the early morning hours.

“We came out of the mosque after saying the morning prayers when we saw Pakistani flags raised on some buildings and towers,” a resident of Gojwara said.

People said that Indian police immediately swung into action and pulled down the Pakistani flags. “Police also enquired from the people who had hoisted these flags,” a resident of Narbal said.

The Pakistani flags were raised on the same day when some extremist organisations in Jammu had planned to hoist Indian national flag at historic Lal Chowk’s Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower) in Srinagar. However, their move was foiled by the police who stopped them from marching to Srinagar. A heavy deployment of the police was also made around Ghanta Ghar to foil any attempt of hoisting Indian or Pakistani flags.

The displaying of Pakistani flags has become common in recent weeks in Held Kashmir. Last month, on April 15, Pakistani flags were displayed at a rally in Srinagar that was organised to welcome the veteran Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Gilani, on his return from New Delhi.
